I sometimes have to venture into Mansfield for work and I really do dread it each time. I think it's a ghastly place to be and terrible to drive in. I can't put my finger on it, I just feel uncomfortable there.

My favorite place in the UK is Littlehampton down on the south coast- a splendid little seaside resort it is! :)

Basingstoke.

Much worse than Coventry.

Always enjoy Kent.

Never thought I would like Sheffield before visiting.

With apologies for anyone living in the area, I can honestly think of nowhere else as awful as Dalton. Even when I've had the misfortune of driving through the area, I feel a mad desire to get myself under a hot shower.

Yes, I know, I know, the place has gone through some rough times, but I doubt if any money of any value was thrown at the place it would be any better.

As regards to nice places, somewhere down Cornwall perhaps, or nearer to home, my 'adopted' city of York. A walk through Museum Gardens, a stroll by the Ouse and an evening having a meal in Melton's, followed by a pub crawl.

(Infact, I'm already booked into a hotel for August.)

Leaving out Sheffield for obvious reasons, the best city by far in the UK has to be Norwich.
Superbly maintained old buildings integrated with all that you'd expect from a large modern city.

Worst place? Difficult, have been through a few but can't say that I've actually experienced life in them.
Probably anywhere in Lancashire would fit the bill!!

Worse place in the country has to be Rotherham. It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from there. Horrible hole full of obese people forced into tight clothing, whoes idea of sophistication is getting a fake tan and fake nails. If I ever ended up having to live there I would make sure I left all my sharp knives at home.

The best place in the UK is Chester. Beautiful medieval city full of charm and character. Cestrians being by far and away the most pleasant people to grace the earth.

Other places worth mentioning are

1) Scunthorpe
2) Hull

Best place would have to be York, beautiful place, friendly people, small enough to walk from A to B.

Least favourite - well the one that stands out would probably be considered an unusual choice as most people rave about it, and I've only visted once so I may not have got an accurate impression of it - Oxford. Not nearly as pretty as the likes of York and Cambridge, and the people seemed very unwelcoming and unhelpful. A very over-rated city.

Best place - Isle of Skye in Scotland (no Chavs!)

Best places - Canterbury, Padstow, Richmond or Edinburgh (and of course Sheffield)

Worst places - Wolverhampton, Basingstoke, Aldershot (or Alder**** as it's affectionately called round my way!) and Cardiff.
