Hello, i'm new to the forum and there seems to be loads of help and advice on here regarding cats and dogs, but i was wondering if anyone had any links to reptile rescue centres where people can re home these kind of animals?

i think carpet viper who posts on here runs a rescue, and cooljules rescues reps. Not sure about the rehoming part tho.

I rescue/rehome reps, have done for well over 10 years..

recently is been a rush of turtles, more last week...

im limited to what i can take, due to space, as i cant take any more Iguana's..

i try to get notice of something coming if poss, incase i have to buy new eq etc i usually have spare of everything, but if it gets used and a big bill then im stuck!!

Try to rehome a lot of animals, if good homes can be found (and come in healthy) but a lot of mine come in sick or near death so never rehomed even if seem fine months later.

I have done public education etc, before my health went dowhill, but somethig thought about doing again and i try to breed reptiles that are mass taken from the wild and 99% die onroute etc and i literally make nothing from it, and it eve costs me, food, heat etc for years but i want to cutdown/stop wild caught animals

Thanks for the replies, i am not looking to get rid of any reptiles, i am looking to see if there are any centres that rehome unwanted ones, sorry for any confusion caused.
i already own a corn snake and wouldn't be without him, but anyone that can help and advise with what i am looking for i would be very gratefull, i'm not an expert on reptiles nor would i ever say i was but i'm always wanting to learn more about them.

A snake or lizard, i would like something that is tame but i do understand that, that is not always possible.
I say i'd prefer tame as i have two small children but they are sensable around animals etc.

well you have a corn, a beginners snake, usually docile (yet i have a rescue evil corn, had many bites over the years)

a bearded dragon is good (only got ill ones that are ok now, but cant be rehomed)

i have some quite unusual young snakes, easy to care for and docile (although fast as under a year old) Bairds rat snakes, i bred these myself and dont often come up for sale (although a lot of sheff rep shops do, they came from me)

A lep gex is good, i had a deformed one come last week...doing well, but again cant be rehomed (most of the animals we get are neglected so stay for life)

Im at firth park, if you want to bring your kids, i can show you many differant reptiles...the good and not so good ones that people buy.

I do rescue and rehome reptiles I have quite a few in at the moment most are not suitable for beginners. I have a ratsnake that is pure evil and I have a water dragon that needs a good feeding up.

I would like to think that you have researched what reptile you would like and know enough about it to have made an active choice in what you would like.

If you would like to research chinese waterdragons and then let me know what you think.

the good easy to care for is the bairds rat snake elaphe bairdi i bred these myself (lots of people wanted them when i asked people around the country on a forum, but got left with about 15....) nice markings/colour, and a little unusual. same sort of size as adult corns etc.
lots of my rescue reps are here, www.julianhales.co.uk

There's loads of so called reptile rescue centers on the net....Check if they are registered as most are just out for free reps and then sell them on the reptile sites later to make a profit...
The only reps I take in now days are Monitors and Tegus due to the ever growing electrical bills and the cost of feeding so many animals...

Yeah Baz, seen it a few times, you can usually tell if they will only take easy to care for stuff, stuff small not large stuff or valueble stuff.

i picked up another huge turt last week from sheff exotics, said someoe handed it in, v v bad curved shell, so cant wait until its in the huge outside pond in the spring getting good sun and pondweed etc for a good diet

Thanks knighthawk, that's something i am very wary of.
Thankfully i have had a really positive response from people on here helping and advising me, something i am truly grateful for.

Can I ask you guys what you do for the Vivs furniture such as the rocks and logs and things, the reason I'm asking is I going up Cumbria shortly with the van and I will be visiting a local slate quarry lol. If you would want a chunk or two let me know, I can also shotblast rocks and logs to give that clean cut look if you want. I am new to the world of reps but I'm getting to like it more and more the more research I do. I wanting to get a young Iguana if the future and hopefully get the Grandson involved as well with his own lizard
if I can help with the rocks and bits epecially the rescue guys give me a shout, let me know what needs blasted.
Cheers ALAN
