For Netherthorpe road there is the pub up by the Arts Tower and Sainsbury's, I forget what its called. Only a couple of minutes up the hill. Or is there somewhere around the St Vincents area/Back of Broad Lane?
As for West Street, I'm stumped. Can anyone think of anytihing round there?

the star and garter? wouldn't recommend it. West street? Surely the red deer
If you like real ale then The University Arms is a better bet than the Harley for the Uni stop
Yes the Star&Garter is a bad pub but there's an even worse one further down the hill past the Sainsburys. Though that may be shut down now.
Good call on The Deer Chris, though it might be a tight squeeze as it's usually rammed of an evening (depending on how many of us there are).
Forgot about the Uni Arms, that's may be a a better option than The Harley.
I can't think of any other pubs near Bamforth Street stop. The Burgoyne Arms was pretty bad from what I remember and may be shut down now anyhow.
From Bamforth St its a two minute walk down the hill to Penistone Rd and the New Barrack Tavern
Enough of this pub talk - we can work that out at the tram stop on the day - speaking of which - have we picked a day?
Not a school night and with a day to recover would equal a Saturday for most people.
If we want to do this in Feb it will have to be the 21st or 28th. Anyone brave enough to pick one?
Ideally we would do this after I get paid on the 26th but I can probably afford it any time. I'm not one to take care of my money.
hitch_1980 07-02-2009, 17:41 So shall we say the 28th ?
MagnetMan 10-02-2009, 23:02 ok 28th is the day of the tram crawl !!! So now we need a list of people... i shall edit my above and stick people down :D
natastna2 11-02-2009, 12:05 I'm up for it!
MagnetMan 11-02-2009, 16:05 women are invited too :D
Not me I'm afraid, I was just making pub suggestions :)
Diana and I are a potential late arrival, as that evening we will be watching Wickersley Amateur Operatic Society's groundbreaking production of "Annie" at Rotherham's award winning civic theatre; featuring my very own mum.
I vote we scratch the Tram Pub Crawl and go watch Mama Pook in Annie. Is she playing that woman who owns the orphanage, or is she donning a Ginger wig and playing the 8-year eponymous hero?
Mama Pook will be taking the role of "third woman in crowd", which I think you'll agree is the pivotal role in the production.
MagnetMan 26-02-2009, 18:05 *groan*
I dont' think (barring an amazing recovery) that i can now make my own idea as i have a horrible cold that has left me with runny eyes and nose (and ironically not runny feet but tired ones) ... Stupid colds! ... are you guys going to still do it or shall we postpone?
natastna2 26-02-2009, 20:09 I'd happily postpone as I'll be in Manchester on Saturday. Let me know. Ant.
I can't make it neither! ;-(
YO
We have a proposition to make – as this Tram Pub Crawl is very much off and on in terms of what we’re doing and who’s turning up, a few of us think we have a nice compromise.
Tram Pub Crawl could work with a few modifications and some set plans but for now we think Saturday should be a Rugby day – England play Ireland in the Six Nations at 5pm on Saturday so we propose we start the day in The Old Monk at 17:00 (5pm if you are using a 12hr clock) for the 17:30 kick off to watch the match on the big screen.
After that, as planned – but a little earlier – we go to No1 Buffet for some food. Then its out into the city to go to bars such as Babylon, Babylon or alternatively Babylon. Or maybe somewhere else *If people insist*.
Sorry to undercut your plans Julian but the Tram thing seemed a bit up in the air and then James reminded us the Rugby is on.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts
Agree on postponing the tram crawl.
Rugby/buffet/phatdancemoves alternative sounds good, I'm in.
- as long as don't have to down a pint of still-warm urine (as I believe is customary in the rugger community)
PS. good to see you and James are now referring to yourselves as 'we'. Sweet.
Lol, 'we' was used in the Royal sense here, though really it was me, James and Justin who discussed this. Pillow talk!
The alternative plan sounds good!
We don't have to go to Babylon I suppose... if someone can bottle the magic from that place and take it elsewhere I'll happily join them wherever!
I'm still seeing Annie. Tickets are still available.

So the options for tomorrow night: Go watch 'Annie' with pook or watch England play Rugby.
Watch a bunch of amateurs stumble their way through another abject performance - or go watch 'Annie' with pook?
mattrialeo 27-02-2009, 17:50 just letting you know the burgoyne arms is closed down.
