View Full Version : Daily bus card - where can I buy? Yoanna 20-06-2005, 11:24 where i can buy bus ticket for one day or for week? how much does it cost? youwhatref 20-06-2005, 11:29 What bus are travveling on? If it's a First bu, you can buy Daily and weekly tickets (as well as monthly that you can get from a SYPTE TIC) If it's various buses (maybe trams.trains too) you can but them from a TIC (Travel Info Centre) and they coem in days/ weeks/months etc. Price depends on whether you are travelling in Sheffield only or wish to travel around South Yorks. If you say exact i'll let you know the prices JoeP 20-06-2005, 11:40 For First services you can get the daily and weekly tickets on the bus itself. The prices change this weekend, and there are leaflets on most First buses detailing changes. I think a day ticket for Sheffield will be £3.00, but others I'm not sure of. If you want details of the tickets that you can use on the services of any operator, take a look at this on the SYPTE web pages. http://www.sypte.co.uk/tickets/index.html Hope this helps. Joe Bilge 20-06-2005, 12:56 £3.95 for a SYPTE Day Tripper - valid on all buses, trains and trams in S Yorks would be very handy for a lot of people. It's even advertised on the trams but unfortunately they can't sell you one: "you buy them on the buses - it's nowt to do wi us" said the conductor when I tried to buy one the other day. Sigh....integrated transport - what a nice idea. silverknight 20-06-2005, 13:15 Do you require a single bus operators ticket i.e. for travel only on First/Stagecoach/Terrier or a multi operator version? Who provides the services in the area you wish to travel? Yoanna 20-06-2005, 13:59 thanks so if i want a daily ticket for buses in sheffield i just can buy it in the bus? i'm here for two weeks so that's why i don't know anything :P CaptainSwing 20-06-2005, 14:18 Originally posted by Yoanna thanks so if i want a daily ticket for buses in sheffield i just can buy it in the bus? i'm here for two weeks so that's why i don't know anything :P OK I guess what you need to know is this: In Sheffield there are green buses and white buses. The green buses cost a bit less but cover fewer routes, and run a lot less frequently on the routes that are the same as those of the white buses. [Some of the older buses operated by the "white" company are in fact red-and-yellow, and a few of the "green" company buses are a kind of beige colour.] A ticket bought on a green bus won't be accepted on a white bus, and vice versa. Yes, day tickets can be bought from the driver. A Sheffield day ticket on the white buses costs £2.50 if bought after 9am, or £3 before that. As of this Saturday (25th June) it will be £3 at all times (yes that's right, a 20% increase after 9am). The ticket is actually valid over a larger area than just Sheffield. I've never bought a day ticket on the green buses so I don't know how much they cost. The "white" company is called "First"; the "green" one is called "Yorkshire Terrier". The link that JoePritchard posted should give you the more detailed info that you need. silverknight 20-06-2005, 14:31 Yes if you wish to travel on First Buses only for a Day the cost will be £3 from Saturday 25th June with a weekly costing £13 The SY Daytripper is £3.95 and is available for purchase on the bus and is also valid all day on buses/ tram and on trains after 0930 M to F with no restriction sat/sun. If you buy a First weekly you also have the option of buying a Travel Adda ticket (90p per journey) if you wish to travel on Peak District service 240 to Bakewell/ 272 to Castleton or a journey on the tram. It a complex world! Yoanna 20-06-2005, 16:57 ok thanks :) yes, it's quite complex :) i'm from poland and everything is much more easier now, just buy a ticket in the shop and go :) |
