No, never heard that one. Mostly heard 'kettles' and 'curling stones'

You've got to admit it's a more exciting building than the NMB, which looks so, so, well, so boring.

It think it's ideal as the new students union building, and much better than the one at the other universty.

Perhaps as a Sheffield Forum 'project' we should start correcting the Wikipaedia entries for Sheffield icons?

:)

I like kettles or Curling Stones, myself.

Actually, as one known on various threads for my luddite tendencies I sort of like this building.

It is beginning to look a bit taty though, which is a shame - be glad when it gets a permanent role.

and let's put it that way, the Kettles will look just as tatty as the NMB when they get to the same age as the NMB, only the NMB isn't a financial fiasco, two times running.

Hi, just wondered if anyone can remember what was on the site before the hubs?

As far as I recall, it was just empty space, rubble, the kind of thing you found all over Sheffield in the eighties and which you kind of didn't notice because that's Just How It Was.

Back in the days when I was a bit of a rabble rouser, I was always off to demos in London, and standing in the cold light of dawn, waiting for the coach on Paternoster Row next to said waste land, was all part of the experience.

Sounds great doesn't it :|
