Hey there :)

Am very keen to start going to the gym again, but i havent been in a while..

now there isnt any leisure centres near to me and i have to walk about (as i am a poor student!)

So obviously, i have looked into what Gyms are close to me and there is Greens, Fitness First (i think) and Virgin Active..
but i'd like to know the prices of membership and whether they offer a student discount, i know the best thing to do is to go in and ask them but i thought i'd post on here first to see if any of you lot could help me? :):help:

So where do you keep fit? what membership do you have & how much do you pay?

Thanks :)

You should try Fitness Unlimited - they do student memberships. Its £24.50 a month for a Peak Membership and you don't have to pay a joining fee. The great thing is, one membership gives you access to 4 different centres:

- Ponds Forge International Sports Centre (City Centre location)
- Hillsborough Leisure Centre (near the football stadium in Hillsborough)
- Concord Sports Centre (in Shiregreen)
- Don Valley Stadium (about 5 minutes tram ride from Meadowhall)

They have gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, an athletics track, spa areas plus loads more.

Have a look on the website (www.fitnessunlimited.co.uk) or give them a call 0114 2233419.

Good luck

Goodwin sports centre across the road from western park hospital is the student sports centre and has some really good deals on membership-or you can just pay as you go at student rates.

Fitness First (Millhouses, probably Hillsboro') student membership is about £28.50 a month if you sign up for a whole 12 MONTH CONTRACT. But the one at Millhouses doesn;t have a pool. they DO have steam & sauna rooms though as well as quite a few classes + all the regular gym stuff.

Which uni you at? I run one of Hallams gyms and can confidently say that for students we beat everyone for price..... A years gold (unlimited access and all clubs and classes free as well as being able to book out the sportshall and astroturf) is £135 a year.......just over £11 a month.

Both our sites have just been refurbed also so all the kit is top notch.

Come and have a look!
