View Full Version : What TV Programmes should no longer be made

After reading about Yorkshire TV stopping Heartbeat and the Royal, I wondered what other programmes people would like to see disappear from our screens. Personally I think Last of the Summer Wine should end now it is well past its sell by date. Also I am fed up with the reality tv programmes made because they are cheap replacing decent programmes, years ago Saturday evenings used to have good drama programmes on, now it is X Factor and the like.

Last of the Summer Wine.

Most of the cast are too old to act anymore and merely say their lines without much feeling or belief.

Anything that's on the advert channels, especially ITV/Channel4/Channel5, because everytime I want to watch something it's always spoilt by adverts.

£170 for a TV licence and it's full of rubbish!!!GRRR!!!!

Agreed.

Most depressingly crap soap ever created... There isn't even any totty in Albert Square these days, not since Martine McCutcheon (Tiffany) left.

There's going to be a few Yorkshire TV programmes that won't be made for much longer given the warning of a statement to be issued in the morning.

I mentioned this on another thread recently but was slapped down as someone who will believe anything the papers say.
It seems Yorkshire tv really is doomed. The net result of having so many channels and not nearly enough talent/money to go round. Did people really not see this was the inevitable outcome. Companies aren't interested in programmes that don't pull in a large enough audience to justify the cost of advertising.

Big brother, American Idol, America's got talent, and others were and are versions of British reality shows exported to us for our enlightenment. Included were such pleasant characters as Simon Cowell, Ann Robinson, and Gordon Ramsey. For which we all thank you, and thank the lord for no TV license fee, and plenty of other choices. However we sent you Jerry Springer as a little token of our appreciation.

Mathom

All soaps bar Coronation Street.

All 'talent' shows which are just extended adverts for crap acts.

All celebrity shows, especially those involving eating insects or wearing spangles.

All food programmes that stray from the simple format of just doing some cooking.

All the lifestyle tosh like How Big Is Your Bum and Make My House 10 Years Younger.

Alas, they instead scrap cool things like Sharpe in favour of all the above crap. :(

Prime example now Heartbeat is in Australia, why do they persist with what was a good programme in its day and come up with boring far fetched story lines. Summerwine is now approaching a cringe factor of 10/10 it is really poor and totally unfunny, time to call it a day.

BREAKING NEWS - A revolutionary new device has been brought out that will banish all unwanted shows from your TV screen, it's called "The Off Switch".
Personally "Grand Designs", "Relocation, Relocation, Relocation" and all other programmes of that ilk ought to be removed from the viewing schedule.
