View Full Version : How much do you get paid?
Can be a rude question in polite company, but this is all in the name of research...
Oh let's face it, I'm just being nosey! - and I bet I'm not the only one that's interested.
:D
(It's all anonymous anyway, unless you want to say anything about your salary...)
Enough to keep the household running....
Not enough to be REALLY comfortable....
2 million a year short of having f*** you money.
Oh dear!
Sorry this was supposed to be a poll, but I pressed post too early.
Sorry
A poll, trada!
What bracket are you in?
melthebell 19-06-2005, 19:32 i get £4.90 an hour, soon to rise to over £5 an hour............bearing in mind its my first ever full time job :)
Not enough. Anyone recruiting?
I don't have f***you money either, but I make up for it with an impressive f*** 'em attitude.
think i'm on about £5.90ish an hour... starting a new full time job at £12,500 pa whatever that works out at per hour? not enough for a genius like me... but it is only a student placement :)
I have to have that doubled in the next 5 years at least
About 3x less than my older brother and about 2x less than my younger brother.
And to think i have the same joinery and carpentry qualifications as my younger brother

why dont you have a poll? many people arent going to want to publicy say what they earn I think
*Twinkle* 19-06-2005, 19:49 I get £4.95 an hour... Crap really, but for a job in a cafe you can't expect anymore really.
I'm just thankful that this isn't my "job for life" or full time job, cos its a pathetic rate of pay and it just makes me grateful that I'm studying to become a solicitor instead of coping on that wage lol

ToryCynic 19-06-2005, 20:13 I'm on a whopping #4.25 per hour!
I won't tell you where I work - it's top secret.
:)
what the hell do people do in Sheffield to get paid 45k plus?
neeeeeeeeeek 19-06-2005, 21:02 I think you really need more options, go up in 5k increments..
before i went part time i used to get paid 16k a year + bonuses:D now i dont know what i will be getting a year!
£6.00 an hour + bonuses in the bar I work at in Yarm, nothing in Sheffield because I left Crystal. Looking for a new job down there though.

Club M? No! It's an awful, awful place now. It's frequented by chav's on a Friday & Saturday night, and it doesn't open any other nights.
I'd rather walk on hot coals than work there. I've been at the bar I work at on and off for the past few years, obviously now I live in Sheffield I only work when they need me to, June & August of summer just to help them cover some shifts.
If I'd made a mistake in my plans I'd be a manager there, not at uni, and single. I ended up in Sheffield and haven't really looked back. Just help them out because they've helped me out so much in the past.
Robbie Loving 19-06-2005, 21:55 im in the majority if i earn my nosuses ha ha
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Full time I would be on approx £17,000 pa but what I earn is pro-rata'd as I am part-time.
I still don't think it is enough for what I have to do....
muddycoffee 19-06-2005, 22:20 Sheish,
I think you need to put your full time rate..
By the way I have been dying my grey hairs tonight!

Sales - ain't commission a wonderful thing...?
I'm in the current majority.
I managed to keep my salary when I moved up from London, very handy!

Swan_Vesta 20-06-2005, 07:44 I earn enough to keep the wolf from the door, and I emphasise the word earn. For the level of agro I get I think I should be on at least another 5k pa more but as this is hopefully short term I'm willing to carry on for a couple of months as is.

Some Civil servants get that much!
indeed they do, woman in our building (civil servant) is on something like 55k a year, not bad 4 some
25 to 35 seems to have the most votes. I guess that means Sheffield fits in with the national average. (abou 26K isn't it?)
Either that or it's just the Forummers are well heeled!
Skatiechik 20-06-2005, 11:51 There isn't an option for not earning anything?

Good point!
Well there's 15000 or below (with no bottom limit). I'm sure that even if you aren't earning, you get some sort of income... giro, pocket money ect?

Yes, sales representatives will be on a nice rate; plus the extra bonuses of comapny car, mobile etc, etc.
I know a person that's a sales rep. ( I don't think the company is based in Sheffield - Strakan).

It must be judging by the number or Porsches I can see in our car park.
Sales does rather rely on you being able to sell stuff though. if I was in sales i'd be on a push bike to get to work and in the bottom category for income.
Me and Robbo (Tony Robinson to you paupers)
Would not get our Geo- Physic tackle out for less than 150K a year.

some senior civil servants get paid that much. I'd need to get 5 or 6 promotions at least to get near that.
i think you need to take into account students, cos we do work part-time, but are only on about £5000 tops.
aren't we allowed in the poll:confused:
louise170419 20-06-2005, 18:02 im on a impressive wage of £4.85 p.h and i have to put up with shoplifters and junkies threatening me nearly every day but hey least it pays more than what the government does if i was on the dole

Apparently average salary in Sheffield is £19k, so the forum looks like it's above average - I guess we maybe have to account for the fact that the more you earn the more likely you are to own a PC?
fredsredhat 20-06-2005, 19:47 I'm a factory trained fitter... on the grand sum of £7.50 an hour. I Did a 5 year apprentaship starting on £1.87 while trying to run a house, only to get qualified, then for the company to shut down, and now I'm putting bloody roller shutters up for a living cos it was the only job i could get at the time!!!! I want to be in the 25k bracket. (BTW I am looking for bigger and better things)
jgharston 21-06-2005, 07:50 Per-hour figures are of little use without the total number of hours.
I am paid £11950pa, and last year averaged 45 hours/week. That works out at £5.10 an hour.

Absolutely nothing at the moment. Jobless and of no fixed abode :)
jgharston 21-06-2005, 08:18 A more interesting question might be:
Who gets paid more than they earn and who gets paid less than they earn?
--
JGH
My work is based purely on hours of delivery (of work) so I can do 50 hours in a week easily some weeks but not do any at all for several more weeks.
On the whole I work around 12 weeks a year, part time in essence and earn around 22k pro rata. I'm not going full time though with the impending advent of twins!
I have recently started smuggling rare gerbils into the country so my earnings have taken sharp increase. I estimate at least 300 quid per gerbil (this is dependent on size and quality of coat). Should hopefully get about 100 this year. That puts me in the 25-35K bracket.
KookyKoo 21-06-2005, 14:49 I get £6.50 an hour for my part-time gig here in this office. I think I deserve more :D

Hehe, I've got quite a number of baby gerbils with gorgeous coats and adorable faces, if I manage £300 each I'd be laughing.
Instead - I'm giving them away.
Feel free to take on my stock and make your millions! Del boy :D
How much?
Not enough, however I've only another 5 years to go so it's 60 paydays and counting.
Here's a thought.
I retire, hopefully, on my 60th birthday 2nd June 2010.
My working day officially starts at 8.30 but I was born at 8.20 am.
Does this mean I don't have to go into work on the 2nd?

ADSLASUK 22-06-2005, 08:03 When i left school my first wage was £3.6s.4p (old money)and that was for 5 days and Sat morning 7.30 untill 1.30 ..my largest annual turnover to date is £3.4 million of which i recieved 8% , so if your on a low wage now work hard and think of the future and take risks ....Adslasuk..(retired...sort of )
