Its so nice coming home from work to the smell of a beef/pork stew. Thats all I have cooked in mine so far. Its great for the cheaper cuts of meat, so it is really economical. I keep meaning to try curry because I bet that would be nice slow clooked all day. steelerbabe 03-02-2009, 10:49 chilli is lovely done in a slow cooker. *Peaches* 03-02-2009, 16:34 I did a joint of pork yesterday and omg I will never cook it in a normal oven again *Peaches* 03-02-2009, 16:35 Hot tip for slow cookers If you ever do a rice pudding, don't forget that rice swells, so don't fill it to the top last thing at night before going to bed. PMSL! Thanks for the warning ChrisTodd 28-02-2009, 19:20 I've been advised to get a slow cooker but so far haven't taken the plunge. Maybe I should just go ahead and get one. *Peaches* 28-02-2009, 20:19 BEST thing I EVER did Chris go for it fizzydrink 01-03-2009, 11:39 a slow cooker is the greatest thing never no more I can't live without one nothing better then coming home to a ready made meal that doesn't come in a box mrmist 01-03-2009, 13:44 We have one but it's not so good. The lid does not seal so stuff has burnt in it. mosaic 02-03-2009, 12:00 What slow cooker do you recommend? *Peaches* 02-03-2009, 12:12 I got the Morphy Richards from TJ Hughes, it has an extended 2 year warranty for £30 LJB23 04-03-2009, 09:50 Ilove my slow cooker, my fave thing is chicken: couple chicken breasts chopped up, few veg, packet of gravey mix, tin of soup (veg or lentil) leave it for 5 hours ish and add a few dumplings, umm umm! I also have made curry, chilli, a spanish chicken thing in tomato sauce with prawns and chicken in white wine sauce. Peaches - I didn't know you could do a full joint in them! Must try this, bet it's very tender, did you just cover the joint in gravey? JohnnyMathis 06-03-2009, 09:24 pulled pork done in the slow cooker, beeaudeeeful. elliec 06-03-2009, 16:18 I've got a slow cooker, but to be honest I've never really done anything in it but casseroles. I would love to use it more though, I just need some good recipes! libero 09-03-2009, 20:50 this might be a really silly question but doesnt any one worry about it being left on over night? I was thinking about getting one but im a bit worried about leaving it on. Best thing I ever bought - wouldn't mind the recipes for your chilli and curry if you'd like to share them  waxonwaxoff 11-03-2009, 13:33 We always do curries and stews in ours. We did a full chicken in ours and it was amazing. Apparently you can even do lasagnes in them and the like too. Smack Jack 11-03-2009, 13:36 Leaving them on is a bit of a worry. I'm terrified of fire so I always make sure our lass puts it on in the morning so its cooked for when we get home. At least then if it all goes up in smoke then I wont go with it. They are great though. They make tasty meals easily and in only one pot! Spot on! LJB23 16-03-2009, 08:15 Best thing I ever bought - wouldn't mind the recipes for your chilli and curry if you'd like to share them  To be honest I tend to cheat!! I just buy the mince or chicken etc and add fresh veg and then use a jar of sauce. :) kidfranky 30-03-2009, 17:04 this will be the best purchase of your life.. |
