Can anyone tell me an easy way to put tassels on a knitted scarf?

I cut a few strands of yarn (the number varies dependent on the type of yarn I'm using but enough to make a decent sized tassel), fold them in half, poke it through between stitches on the first row and hook the loose ends through the looped ends and pull tight. It's an idiot proof method because I use it!
