hey up all
i bought a new rear (half) wing for the midget that i 'won' on ebay....seeing as yesterday was so nice, i brought the old girl out of my garage and set about her with my angle grinder and a suitable stack of cutting discs:D
here's a pic of when i removed the rear bumper and wiped the crud away- i wish it all was as nice:(
>>a nice back-end,, ooo er missus!<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am9.jpg)
the nearside rear wing wasn't as nice though:gag:
>>tinworm!!<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am1.jpg)
>>more tinworm...<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am2.jpg)
i chopped the rot away and what's left is very solid...
>>butchered!<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am7.jpg)
just trying the boot floor to wing panel for fit- yup, it fitted very well...
>>extra bit!<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am3.jpg)
now, as it turned out, the rear wing was for an earlier model, this being apparent by the extra bit that goes below the light cluster, i'll have to chop this and make a new lip.
the wing was about a 1/4" too short as well so i had to straighten out the rear lip, put it in place then tap the panel around the bit where the cluster fits, this was very solid so it was easy to form it round...
the wing offered up to the car..
>>wing in place<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am5.jpg)
ending up, it fitted quiet nicely, i didn't weld it as it was going dardk and also the fact that i will have to fab a new inner arch to do the job right..
>> closer<< (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/johnbaz/am6.jpg)
it was too damned cold today to do anything (i'm a fine weather tinkerer!!)
