...aren't actually all that bad sometimes, all you need is a little trust.
Just finished a mammoth (for me) 3 and a half hour tennis match with one of my friends in Graves Park.
During the final set and having consumed all of our pre-brought beverages (i.e. water and dilute orange) we were pretty thirsty.
A couple of girls (approx 12/13 years) on their mountain bikes had been watching us from outside the court playing tennis for about half an hour.
Knowing that the closest place to buy a can of pop was at the garage on Chesterfield road it would mean either abandoning the match in the final set or taking a little time out (and maybe lose the court).
So I asked these girls if they'd mind fetching us a can of pop each and I'd give em some money for going.
They said alright (cos lets face it, it'll take em about 3-4 mins) to race down on the bike than seeing me and my mate having to stagger down there all fatigued.
Anyway I gave em £3 (bloody inflation) for 2 cans of pop (1 diet coke and 1 fanta) and off they went.
Now after they left me & my mate laughed at the fact that they could easily have just gone home and kept my money for doing nothing.
I was surprised and happy when they come cycling back with 2 cans of pop.... to which we were both grateful.
All you need is a little trust in the youth of today sometimes and sometimes it pays off (minus £2 obviously).
To top it all off... I beat my mate 2 sets to 1 :D
