View Full Version : What would you spend £20 on at HMV?
surfinjim 29-01-2009, 04:31 Ok, as part of my 40th birthday celebrations, a very kind friend has given me a £20 HMV gift card.
Now I haven't bought any "modern" tunes for many a year. I like indie tunes, but not averse to a dance. rock. In fact ok with most things with the exception of RnB:gag:
Was thinking Kings of Leon and Killers, but honestly don't have much of a clue at present.
So what would you buy with £20. Recommendations please.
Cheers
Jim:thumbsup:
Pauline BHG 29-01-2009, 05:59 You could always buy a Compilation or two of *modern* stuff, if you want to get clued up on it ! :)

 I never even thought of anything as obvious as that! Thanks for the tip!
Jim
Try one of the 'Now thats what I call music' compilations. They tend to be a mix of all sorts!

I found £40 of hmv vouchers, I'm intending on buying every episode of peepshow and season 7 of family guy. BTW, a tip with hmv; look on the website things are cheaper with free delivery. Peepshow is £18 cheaper on their website.

Try the White Lies album. I'm enjoying that at the moment.
NEKRO138 29-01-2009, 10:10 Or if you like modern 80s sounding music try Neon Neon's album, Stainless Style. I love that too.

Kings of Leons latest album is ace, the Killers is a bit run of the mill though.

Yep, have you noticed it was designed for people with short attention spans though?

Fallout 3 interests me, but I'm not a fan of the kind of game it is, so I'll need to rent it before paying £40 for it.
slimsid2000 31-01-2009, 13:53 What about that gay man in a record shop who is HMV positive?

Elbow are a good recommendation
Their performance of their album The Seldom Seen Kid with the BBC Concert Orchestra at Abbey Road is being shown on loop on the BBC Red Button; well worth catching. I believe you can also just listen to it on the Radio 2 website too.
(edit: there's a bit of it on youtube, here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Yja6OmJAs))
