are we in a worse, better or equal posistion in the style of football at the moment?
when robson thought we could play like man u, the football was negative and rubbish.
blackwell took over and we played our way out of trouble, which at times was'nt bad football.
now it is just longball all the time, any opposing manager just has to get his tallest defence and is laughing.
i can't understand why we play this way when we have the ability to play some passing football, when we rarely do, we make it hard for the opposition.
for me i think we in equal to robson at the mo- a decent squad but no way playing to full potential
COME ON BLACKWELL SORT IT OUT!!!!

Any type of football which bypasses Nick Montgomery in midfield sounds a suitable option.

And that probably explains it. We still, still, STILL have no decent midfielders.

Another thing which always seems to happen is we sell players and off they go and start scoring for their new team, viz, Hulse, Stead and even Spring. And Beattie scored last night (although of course he managed to score regularly for us, albeit mainly from 12 yards).

Maybe this says more about Blackwell than anything else?

robson had the best squad in the championship, blackwell has just dismantled it , if he was any good we would be above wolves .as for rob son , he is about as much use as an ash tray on a motorbike .

Why isn't he playing Howard in midfield.... isn't he about the only one who can accurately pass a ball more than 10 yards ??

not one player in a red and white shirt at bramall lane could last night.
doncaster were tearing through us with their passing .

Donny showed how to pass the ball last night and at times they made us look like a sunday park outfit, all we do is hump it forward and hope for a knock down from hendo and someone to get on the end of it.
Its awful to watch and to be honest if the league placings went on quality of football we would be around 15 th place, terrible.

Well they're idiots if they do.

Warnock was given seven years and only three of those were good - the playoff final/two semi finals etc, promotion season and the season in the Prem.

Yes, I was disappointed too last night; it's possibly the worst we've played under Blackwell, but what we need is solidarity and to not start blaming people when things don't go right every time.

Or am I just banging my head against a brick wall trying to get through to 'SOME' of the Blades 'faithful'?

2 differences here sir.

Warnock built one of the worst teams in the league with very little money and straddled with debt into one constantly challenging for promotion and earning good money from transfer fees and good cup runs.

Blackwell had arguably one of the best teams in this league loads of money to play with in comparison and plays awful football and scraping together victories and draws.

I'm sorry, but Warnock if he had this team would not be falling behind the likes of the top 3.

POSSIBLY the worst? It's the worst peformance since Adrian Heath was in charge. I thought the Charlton game was bad, but I didn't expect the delights of last night.

Some good points there Rob.
When KB got the team, hopes and expectations were high. Rightly so, the talent was there.
I'm in no position to comment on the type of football being played but there's enough posters on here who've convinced me it's pretty bad.

I was a little surprised me when you appointed Kevin Blackwell as manager, at the end of the day the only real experiance he's had is with Leeds and being a yes man to Neil Warnock.

GET A GRIP

WERE 5TH IN THE TABLE, 10 POINTS BEHIND AUTOMATIC PROMOTION, we've just had a 9 game unbeted run, and 1 slip up. and your already calling for blackwell to sort it out. people like you wont be happy unless were on a 15 game unbeaten run. we only need to aim for 2 points per game on average and were curently on 2.25 point per game for this year 2009, team who are on an average of 2.0+ points per game normally end up with promotion

So fans putting more pressure on the manager is going to help is it?

So fans putting more pressure on the manager is going to help is it?

I'm sorry, but with management of a club like Sheffield United comes a lot of pressure, if they can't take it then the role isn't for them (Blackwell).

I'm torn between wanting Blackwell out and not, I don't want to sack another manager, but I said from day one that he isn't what we want long term.

your taking a few views on here as the norm. believe me next saturday we will be fully behind them as the 3,000 pigs will find out. and then they'll be ringing local radio stations, writing to local papers. saying how intimidated they felt by those nasty wasty blades. bit rich you telling us to get behind them when other week you was on here whilst your team was at home.

He cant put together a decent attacking side but can put together a side that is hard to beat, but absolutley dire to watch.. We should be challenging for the top two, have one of the best teams in the division but still we continue to play negativly.. The solution to our poor football seems so simple but our manager just cant seem to impose it...... (PLEASE prove me wrong Blackie and get the team playing football!)

Exactly, so why make it harder? He's been here 2 minutes and already some fans are wanting him out.

After Tuesday, I'm as nervous as anyone about next Saturday, but we need to get behind them in the run up to the game. He knows the magnitude of the occasion, having been part of them in the past, so he knows what it means to the fans. Adding more pressure to him and his players won't help.

Some people work better under pressure.

But that's by the by, he has brought the pressure on himself, playing negative football and lots of hoofball, also falling out with members of the squad on a regular basis.

Perhaps a bit of pressure from up above might make him think about what made him succesful at the end of the last season.

For the record though, I was glad they got booed off Saturday, however I would never personally boo them off.

There is a lot of problems at the Lane at the moment, and it starts with the manager in my opinion.

.

i don't think he was succesful last season,i think robson leaving gave the whole place a big lift, the fans got behind the team and the team responded,i don't think any of the results had owt to do with kevin "i'm off to leeds" blackwell.

and now the fans are'nt getting behind the team. i sat on the lane end tuesday night only bit of noise i heard apart from the booing was from the g and h sections of the south stand. kop end was very quiet so was fam stand.
what comes first chicken or the egg.

bet theres a big differance in the pig game cos all the ground will be up for it.

remember the words of ex pig chris turner after a lane derby

"some of our players froze they;ve never played in front of an atmosphere like that"
