The real fun is watching it back when you've twigged at the end! Any of you guys seen I.D. with the motel and the mysterious killings? A nice twist, but none have outdone The Usual Suspects IMHO. *Ryan* 17-06-2005, 10:47 Originally posted by Carmine The real fun is watching it back when you've twigged at the end! That was my mums polite phrase for going to the toilet, "Do you want a Jimmy Riddle". Carmine 17-06-2005, 11:15 Originally posted by nick2 :) He's realy called Jimmy Riddle ? Nah, but Dennis Pennis called him that to his face a few years ago and it just stuck in my mind!:hihi: Greenback 17-06-2005, 11:38 Originally posted by Carmine Any of you guys seen I.D. with the motel and the mysterious killings? I spotted both twists more or less straight away, and I'm absolutely terrible at things like that usually. Got to agree about The Usual Suspects - brilliant film. I got Identity when they wheeled the convict out in the straightjacket...just made no sense in regard to the other storyline. *Ryan* 10-04-2007, 09:41 Still love this film, seems to make sense, only cos i can relate to it.. NEKRO138 10-04-2007, 10:11 Yeah, I twigged Identity straight away too. And I'm not normally good at them. Good film though. I didn't watch Eternal Sunshine, cos I decided to watch my favourite Jim Carey film instead - Ace Ventura. elora* 10-04-2007, 10:25 eternal sunshine is an amazing film, really good portrayal of relationship stuff :) *Ryan* 10-04-2007, 10:52 eternal sunshine is an amazing film, really good portrayal of relationship stuff :) do u mean as in people are ment to be together sort of thing? alternageek 10-04-2007, 15:12 its one of my fave films of all time. btw the movie was supposed to be set on long island but the only part that was taped there were the beach scenes in montauk the rest of it was taped in westchester county. hell the platform jim carreys character was waiting at wasnt even a LIRR platform :( they rode a metronorth train (which only goes from NYC to CT) which doesnt even go out to montauk alternageek 10-04-2007, 15:14 do u mean as in people are ment to be together sort of thing? no i think its because it shows the emotions and the feelings that all people feel in their relationships. we all have down periods in a long term relationship, its how each other gets through them as individuals and together as partners is how strong you really know your relationship is StarSparkle 10-04-2007, 15:30 Aww, it sounds a brilliant film - wish I'd watched it now :( Will keep a look out for it on DVD StarSparkle *Ryan* 10-04-2007, 15:33 no i think its because it shows the emotions and the feelings that all people feel in their relationships. we all have down periods in a long term relationship, its how each other gets through them as individuals and together as partners is how strong you really know your relationship is Ah thats what i were thinking of. Cheers.. This along with the film closer too.. Bago 11-04-2007, 03:47 Closer is also another good film. That's the one with Natalie Portman in it, isn't it ? I remember watching Eternal Sunshine with a friend, and we thought initially it was another Jim Carrey comedy movie, but was so pleasantly surprised. I would put it up there as one of the better love stories! The twists and the way the whole story unfold was pretty clever. purdyamos 11-04-2007, 14:32 I made the mistake of half-watching it, I had it on through the hatch while I was scraping and sanding my kitchen, and it I got terribly confused because some of the clues as to where and when things were happening went right past me, although Kate Winslet's hair was obvious! I will watch it again properly because I thought it was rich, thought provoking and beautifully made. It was also so refreshing to see characters that were not perfect and unrealistic romantic archetypes - they had flaws, warts and all, and the aggravations of relationships were laid bare honestly as well as the magic moments. :) sheffdan 11-04-2007, 17:10 I think Eternal Sunshine is about the fact that basically everyone gets hurt in relationships and to a certain extent everyone HAS to get hurt, its the same as anything else in life.......its how we learn, we take experiences and learn lessons from them. Its what makes us who we are :) Too deep??? discoelectro 11-04-2007, 23:08 Beautiful film. The first time I saw this was tough because I'd just had a difficult relationship break-up, and watching them go through that onscreen was a bit like lemonjuice to the cut. I love the ideas though - the tunnels and blacked-out areas of the mind; concealing and revealing memories and blanking-out painful faces - that and the perspective technique in the bit where Jim Carrey is a child and Kate Winslet has those fantastic white 1960s boots on in the kitchen. Michel Gondry is amazing  Gypsy Hack 12-04-2007, 10:58 Sorry but I'm going to be the token spoilsport - I thought it was disappointing. It tried to be good and clever, it tried so hard, but for me there was far too much concept and little or no characterisation. Neither Jim Carrey's character nor Kate Winslet's had much to them, and I didn't find them believable as a couple. slh73 12-04-2007, 11:22 Sorry but I'm going to be the token spoilsport - I thought it was disappointing. And Closer was the same...I could have gladly punched every character in that film in the face. Repeatedly. And not felt in the slightest bit bad about it when Id done. |
