Hey

Well all pregnant women are entitled to £190 Health In Pregnancy grant, if you are due on or after 6th April this year. Forms from your Midwife although as it's a new thing a lot haven't got them yet. Think maybe you have to be over 25wks pregnant when you get the form... double check this.

Depending if you are recipt of any benefits you may get £500 SureStart grant. If you aren't entitled now then you may be after when receiving Child Tax credits, if you get the higher award. Claim before baby is 3 months old though.

Obviously when baby is here you may be entitled to Child Tax Credits (depedning on your income), Working Tax Credits (if you work more than 16hrs.. again depending on income).

And everyone gets Child Benefit.. £20 a week currently I think.

Hope that helps!

x

It's ok... can be confusing and I wouldn't have known about the SS Grant the first time round had someone not told me, and the HIP Grant is new... all goes to helping you and baby anyway!

Oh and pregnant women in receipt or certain benefits may be entitled to the Healthy Start vouchers- bys you fresh milk, fruit and veg. Same goes for baby once it's born. I am entitled as I am a student and have a young child already and expecting no. 2 and so get these , again I had to get the form from my MW so she can stamp it etc. Helps and is designed to get you the right nutrition in pregnancy and for baby (valid for formula milk powder too when baby is here).

Some people think you only gets stuff if you are on Income Support etc but that;s not the case- as I said, Child Benefit is for everyone, as is the new HIP grant. Others are based on if you get any benefits but that could be anything- I am not in receipt of anything except Child Tax Credits for my current child, at the higher rate with having a low income as a student nurse. But even if I wasn't now (if I didn't already have a child) I would be once baby born as would still get the higher rate CTC's.

Ohhh and you should get free prescriptions if you don't already- get a Maternity Exemption form from your doc/MW. Think this is for free prescriptions, dental treatment etc. I *think* this is until baby is 1 maybe after again depending on what benefits you get or how much you earn.

If you need any more help or links I will try and help. x

Get what you can-it's what it's there for. :)

While the baby is being born if the father is present in the delivery room you are by law allowed to scream obcentities and blame him for your predicament too :D

Also after 30 weeks you are entitled to demand to be treated like a goddess, have your feet rubbed, your tea brought to you, and your every whim catered to.

If only men weren't entitled to refuse...:hihi:

Hey! I am 30 weeks today and am getting none of the above! Can I take him back for a refund?!

I tried, but they don't do refunds, only exchanges, and frankly you're better with the one you've started to train :hihi:

I suggest you start by making him feel guilty about what he's 'done' to you and how uncomfortable you are, and leave around articles on how stressful pregnancy can be on a woman's body.

If that doesn't work, just shove your feet in his face and tell him to rub them NOW or he'll never have the opportunity to practice making another baby again.:D
