Did anyone use the GATE INN PUB at Wadsley bridge from
1960 to 1966, if so do you remember the names of any of the lads who used to go in there at that time.

I had my first wedding reception there in 1970,it was upstairs but you had to go downstairs for the ale!
there was a sign of a wooden gate hung outside that had the inscription
This gate hangs well and hinders none
Refresh and pay and travel on.

Many the time I stood at the bus stop looking at it and thinking what a load of sh rubbish.
I remember at dinner time 12 o clock there used to be a queue of pint pots lined up all with about 3/4 of a pint inthem. They could then be topped up as you asked for them,I found out later that they used a hosepipe to fill them up with jungle juice (proper Stones).

Hi sweetdexter
good to hear from you ,I think I
remember all three of these lads, did Ken have fair hair.
I think malc married a girl who was regular in the Gate,
I don,t know much about Ray.
