I run all my web sites from home, and also embedded HTML templates to all my new ebay listings. We had a brief power cut at luch yesterday and of course my server went down, when the power came back on I was not there to physically reboot it.

What reasonbly prized back up power solutions exist to enable brief power cuts to be 'absorbed'. In 2 years of running the server never had a power cut yet, but just curious if its mega bucks for power reserves, or a simple solution....

I think you will be able to find a 'cover for a couple of minutes' battery for a under £100. Check your usual suppliers for UPS.

This should sort you out http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/650VA-APC-Tower-UPS-with-Internet-DSL-Fax-Modem-Protection-Retail-Box
Also has phone line protection to protect your router from mains spikes.
Will connect to your server and enable the server to shut itself down if the outage is prolonged rather than a sudden loss of power.

you could set your pc to start back up on power restore after power loss, its a setting in the bios, usually under advanced or power

its good value, but I kind of like to get my hands dirty and all my own hosting...somehow it feels great when it all works and downtime has been only 30 minutes in the last 2 years which for a home server is pretty good I think:)
