I've just been listening to some TV reviewers on the R5 Simon Mayo show, and they were very positive about Being Human that was on BBC3 last night.

To be honest, it sounds just the sort of thing that I would hate, but then it sounds like the thing that my daughter would love.

Did anyone watch it? Is it any good? More importantly is it suitable for a 13 year old girl?

TIA

I really enjoyed it, kind of a black comedy i guess, quite cheesy but well done and interesting. I think a 13 year old would be ok with it, although there are some quite gorry scenes of vampire attacks...so it depends how squeamish she is...i think you can watch short extracts from it on the bbc website if you want to screen it before she watches it.

I loved the pilot for this when it was on last year and the first episode didn't let me down. They have changed the cast a little but in a good way. As for a 13 year old watching it I am not too sure. I let my eldest watch "Demons" on ITV on a saturday night as I know that it is before the watershed and it's not going to be too graphic. But Being Human is far different from this. It is dark with some black comedy thrown in. In the first episode we got sex, male nudity and really good Vampire and Werewolf attacks. If she liked Twilight then she will hate this!!! as it is far from the romantic view of that film~!!! Its a quirky concept with 3 supernatural people sharing a house but really it's their own personal struggle with their own lives!!! I loved it. If you are not sure if it is suitable then watch the episode on bbc i player or on line and make up your own mind.

I think Being Human is really good, mainly I think it would be ok for a 13 year old but there is some adult material in there that I wouldn't be too keen on her watching so hmm I guess it would depend on how easy going you are.

It has some deadly one-liners, I really did laugh out loud a number of times - but you're right, it is getting a tad unsettling! I'm looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

(and, tho not strictly important, I'm thoroughly loving having the vamp's Dublin accent on the telly; I miss hearing it, more than I realised!)
