YTV Weathergirl, Jo Blythe, announced on Sunday evening that that was to be her final weather appearance on the channel. She pleasantly wished viewers all the best.
Thinking what a polished presenter she is, me thought she'd been promoted to ITN but her Wikipedia suggests she has left the network. Thus, has she moved to another channel or does her career lie in another sphere, off-screen? One hopes it won't be the last we see of her attractive features!

Lest you thought she was a "Little Miss Prim and Proper" - here's a lighter moment

The reason Jo is no longer on Calendar is weather reorganisation. You may not have realised but up until early this year all Yorkshire region, Granada (North West) region, Tyne Tees region and Border region weather were done by presenters like Jo, Jon Mitchell, Kerrie Gosney, Debbie Lindley from Leeds studios.

The reorganisation has meant each region should have no more than 2 forecasters on contract plus a few freelancers scathered around the regions. This meant Yorkshire kept Jon and Kerrie on contract and Debbie on a freelance basis. Jo went to Granada to be the main weather forecaster, with Fred Talbot the other Granada forecaster. Occasionally if neither Fred or Jo are available on a weekday then Kerrie makes the trip across the Pennines to fill in. However, Jo and Fred have to cover Central region if no-one is available there so there isn't a chance of Jo doing Yorkshire weather in the forseeable future.

Jo's apparently just had an operation and won't be back until November/December. I don't know anymore than that. So I think Fred will do most weekdays and other forecasts will be done by freelancer Emma Jesson or Kerrie Gosney will appear on Granada as well as Yorkshire in the short term.

thanks to all for the info.
A couple of months ago Jo did not look well on the tv and had lost weight.
I sincerely hope she is ok after her op.
Lovely girl with a lovely disposition.

Look for the video "Jo Blyhte - ITV Weather 13 Jul 09 (HQ)" on YouTube (I'm not allowed to post links until I've made more posts) and look at her 4th finger on her left hand on this YouTube video from earlier this year and I think it'll give you an obvious clue.

Her final op for the sex change has now been done and she/he will be back on your screens at the beginning of November.

Jo seems to have returned on a Granada weather forecasts on a PT basis. ITV regional weather forecasts are available on the internet every day now, so if you really want to see Jo in Yorkshire you just have to go to the ITV Granada website and hope the most recent forecast was done by Jo. Although, they don't always update it as frequently as they should. I just checked the website and it's still showing a GMTV forecast by Kerrie Gosney, not the most recent forecast by Fred Talbot at 6.25 this evening.

(Jo Blythe and Fred Talbot occasionally cover ITV Central at the weekend as well, so Jo could also pop-up on that site.)

Jo is on Central but looking quite different she's lost that potential for mischief demeanor that made her so attractive and her hair is no longer fair 'appen she got married

She's working for ITV Granada in Manchester but Granada and Central share weather presenters at weekends and the weekend rota for weather for both regions is: Fred Talbot (Granada), Emma Jesson (Central), Jo Blythe (Granada), Emma Jesson (Central.) Jo did both Granada and Central last weekend. It'll be the 22nd/23rd October when she next appears on Central, subject to holidays. She does Thursday and Friday for Granada every week, again subject to holidays.

Jo only works part time since she returned from long term sick leave in 2008.
