View Full Version : Motley Crue - Wednesday night...
...awsome night!!! The band that brought sleaze back to rock showed everyone how it's meant to be done!!!
Looking forward to Friday night in Birmingham when I get to meet them (not that I'm boasting!!) :headbang:

I thought they were really good. Never heard their music before but i think i'll have a look at at a cd or two. Can you recommend one?
Pauline BHG 16-06-2005, 20:39 Arrrghh i'm soooo jealous !! Would've loved to see Motley Crue, alas i'm too skint :( Was it like a *greatest hits* type show, or do they have a new album ? Give NikkiSixx & Tommy Lee a MWAH XX from me please ;)
Killing Joke - I LOVE their 80s stuff, *Love like Blood* is an all time classic IMHO, but I saw them live for the first time a couple of years back, and i thought they were very disappointing. They played all of their newer/rockier stuff, and NO Love Like Blood............ *whimpers*
Good to hear they went down OK - had wondered how they're fair with a Motley Crue crowd - thought it was a weird pairing.
Anyway... "Laugh? I Nearly Bought One" is a reasonable comp, "Nightime" is the mid 80s album with their two hits (Love like Blood & Eighties - with a riff that Kurt Cobain had obviously heard!), "Killing Joke" & "Whats THIS for" are the two classic early 80s albums - though pretty full on post punk stuff and Killing Joke- the album - is the most recent one - and they do rock like bast*rds considering they're all well into their 40s!
I would say Killing Joke got a good response from the crowd, though in fairness I was at the front so maybe not a good judgement. I'll see if i'm still impressed with them tomorrow night though still think i might buy an album or two.
They are playing in Manchester in in October. I would imagine Acadamy though not sure. Will go and see them I think.
Motley Crue were just awsome!!! Played ALL their songs. I think they only played one new song. Thats what I want to see when i see *old* bands. The songs that got me interested! Not like when I saw Red Hot Chili Peppers who played only new songs. That was a disappointing evening!!
Did i mention i'm meeting them tomorrow night?
(sorry, now i'm boasting and being annoying!!)
RockKat79 16-06-2005, 23:03 Well they played all my favourite tracks........Girls Girls Girls, Looks that kill, Shout at The Devil, Wild Side, Too young to fall in love, Primal Scream, Live Wire, same ol' situation, Red hot...
ah, classic \m/
Is Motely Crue's new material any good? The only track i've heard off the "Red White & Crue" album is "Sick Love Song" (which is good but nothing at all on past tracks like "Dr Feelgood", "Looks That Kill", "Too Fast For Love", "Piece Of Your Action" & "Merry-Go-Round")
ArtAngel 17-06-2005, 09:40 I went to that gig too. The best thing for me was receiving a free CD outside of a sheffield band called Rise To Addiction. Sounds awesome!

:headbang: You lucky bugger, i wish they were coming to sheffield:headbang: glad you had a good night!!
long live monsters of rock!
Killing Joke? Get their debut. I think it's called 'Killing Joke' and it's awesome.
Motley Crue? Vince Neil killed the drummer of a band infinitely better than him and his bunch of cronies will ever be. How he's still allowed to enjoy any form of hero worship is beyond me. Shouldn't even be on the streets.

They were. But infinitely better than Motley Crue.
I have to agree Vince Neil is a dick!
He put in a good performance on Wednesday night but Friday at Birmingham it seemed he didn't give a damn. There seemed to be ver little interaction with the crowd compared to in Manchester.
Also, myself and abound 25 other paid $400 to meet Motley Crue and Vince could not be bothered to to meet us, so at least we get $100 back!! Must say other three were great!
Pauline BHG 19-06-2005, 21:38 *gasp*
I was gonna ask howcome you got to meet them - you paid ???? Wow. I'm a bit shocked..... <not at you, at THEM>
Paid through fan fare i think its called! X-girlfriend arranged it (last commitment  )
Apparently they own the fan clubs of various bands and if you are willing to pay then i would imagine you can meet most bands.
Moneywise it was a steep amount to say hello, shake a hand, have a picture, ticket to convert, laminate and guitar pics but who knows when you will ever see a band like motley crue again??

Is there no decent rock clubs in Edinburgh and that's why you moved down here?
Pauline BHG 19-06-2005, 23:28 I moved to London from Edinburgh in 98, as music is my life (especially live music) and London was the place to be. 6 years later, i'd got myself into debt and worn myself out, so I moved to sheffield !! I'd visited here a few times, for gigs and clubs, and always had a really good time. I still love it here after a year, the only thing i miss about London is the amount of gigs !! I've seen loads of bands (especially rock, though im into other stuff) that i missed out on in the 80s coz i was just a tad too young, or for one reason or another. FasterPussycat. LA Guns, Vain, BangTango, Pretty Boy Floyd blah blah blah. Not enough of these bands play in Sheffy, which is a shame :(
I'm still in shock at the *pay to meet* thing :o In london it was very easy to meet bands though, so i guess ive become a bit blase about it. Ive met all of my music idols, throughout my various phases/tastes, except for DuranDuran who are my all time faves and i couldnt cope wi meeting them !!
Would love to have the Crue live this time round, just couldnt afford it. Ive seen them before though, when they toured with Skidrow. BRILLIANT gig !! Theyre not a band im fussed about meeting though.
Suppose thats the difference between london and the rest of the uk, meeting celebs is so easy!!
Only other time i've met celebs is type o negative. That was because won a competion. That was a good night!! Spent around and hour speeking to mainly jonny and kenny (Peter and Josh disappeared after about 20 minutes)
Of all the things to speak about jonny and myself were talking about the bank of england base rate and the price of houses. Everyone else were like why were you talking about something so boring!! He started it!!
Took my 8 month pregnant sister to see duran duran last year in manchester. i thought she was going to give birth then!!
Pauline BHG 19-06-2005, 23:54 heheh it's easy when you know how ;) I met a lot in Edinburgh too. I find it quite easy in the rock world, esp when bands play at clubs. Had Motley Crue played at Rock City, we'd ALL have been sorted heheheheh !!
Suppose it easy if you know how!! Being male though i don't have`the main assetts!!
RockKat79 21-06-2005, 23:12 I am a little dissapointed about not meeting vince, but it was nikki I was excited about meeting......he liked my new rock boots and acused me of stealing them from him!
I think vince did interact with the crowd on Friday, but was not as on form vocally as what he was on Wednesday at Manchester........I still enjoyed both shows!
