You may have to reboot before your history is cleared :)

you could use a browser like opera that doesnt keep a history and is much more secure. or i would have thought that deletin the whole lot and then removin them from the recycle bin would work

i use CCleaner to clear all my temp files etc.

then clear the cache from internet options and set the cache to 1mb, also delete all cookies and all offline content.

Opera is way better than IE for a multude of reasons.. But Opera does retain your history, unless you don't want it to but you can very simply delete any history if you do - hope that makes sense

Try Webroot's Window Washer, it's amazing how much crap you can clean up off your system and as a bonus for original poster it should delete IE history and cache. Cleared over 2gig of detritus off mine first time I used it. Amazing how permenant temp files can be.
If you are that paranoid I believe it also 'Bleaches' folders, recycle bin...etc. Don't know effective it is as I always want to be able to recover deleted info, just in case. Deleted files and info can be recovered surprisngly easily even if you format disc.

Other wise Menu Tools/Internet Options and delete temp files in General Tab of Dialogue box. If you are ever testing web pages in IE you may need to flush this out if alterations don't show in browser. Very tedious having to do all the time. Yet another reason to use Opera.
