Are teams just randomly given a number or is there another reason for it? I see that the winner of the Liverpool/Everton tie this afternoon will be Ball 1 in the next round but Arsenal IIRC were Ball 1 in the Round 3 draw.

Alphabetically; Arsenal - Therefore ball 1 ChrisTodd 26-01-2009, 00:10 For the third round draw teams always seem to have the same number. So the numbers must be given in some alphabetical way. But I don't know how they decide the numbers for later rounds. And why do the broadcasters never show a full list of numbers just before the draw so we can all look for our own team. happyhippy 26-01-2009, 00:50 I *think* they're done alphabetically, but with a mix of who was at home in the previous round, and what division the team is in too. For example, had they got this far, I'll guarantee that Altrincham Town wouldn't have been 'number 1'. Edit- Sorry, missed your wouldn`t for would`ve Whatif wewin 15-02-2009, 19:22 Everton were lucky 7 for the quarter final draw. FA Cup quarter-final draw: Blackburn or Coventry v Chelsea Swansea or Fulham v Manchester United Cardiff/Arsenal or Burnley v Sheffield United or Hull City Everton v West Ham or Middlesbrough Ties to be played on the weekend of March 7-8. Yakubu 15-02-2009, 19:58 We`ll win it this year, comfortably. happyhippy 16-02-2009, 01:34 We`ll win it this year, comfortably. You're not a bad bet at about 6/1, I'll agree. Whatif wewin 16-02-2009, 16:28 I am not betting the last time I did was when we won against Man U. I bet at the start of the season at Owlerton dog track (Wm Hill) but I lost the ticket, I wrote to them but they claimed that they also could not find the ticket. I wrote to head office to no avail. I bet last time we beat Liverpool (not in the cup) for Everton to win 2.0 but Andrew Johnson went and scored in the last minute making it 3.0, so I lost out. I was pleased to beat Lpool but it seems that betting is not my forte.
