Hi folks,

Does anybody know the speed limit of Richmond road in Handsworth, Sheffield? I got confused when driving on it, didn't see any signs but seems everybody was driving more than 40m

Cheers,
N

It's got houses... It's got street lights... It's a 30. Please do not drive like "everyone else"...

Oh yes... and If you don't know... go slow!

Think Caprice is only saying what my driving instructor told me. If there are no signs and you don't know the road, then street lights mean a 30 mph as a rule of thumb ;)

Not seen this one, but have seen the one on the M62! What a place to live! :D

I'm with the others, if you dont know take it as 30. As Richmond Rd is a wide road (if i recall) it doesn't suprise me to see that many do 40

It's handsworth rd you need to be really careful on. Complete deathtrap. It's time itt was repainted to one lane (as it really is) round all the parked cars, right turners, bus stops.....

It's a real art not getting boxed in by some c*** who thinks Sheffield exists only in playstation land

generally, if there are no signs in a built up area it's "30 unless told otherwise"

If it is a road with side streets they will all have "30" signs if the road is a 40. Another tip!

use to be no parking for a period in the morning and early evening . But why have they put a single yellow line down each side that knowone takes any notice of at anytime including parking 3/4 of the way on the pavement.

Also raise this old chestnut .How can they get away parking in the bus pull in just after the Iron bridge at Woodhouse Mill

I don't know whats so frustrating about driving at 30. I always keep to the speed limits but when there's no way to get past me, other drivers get so impatient and edge closer to me, which is very dangerous incase I had to stop quickly and also cos I'm a new driver my actions may not be the same as a more experienced driver...

I'm not for the whole idea of the pay-per-mile and having a box inside your car tracking your every move, but if an automatic fine was issued for every violation of the speed limit, some idiotic drivers would soon be too poor to drive and would have to take the ultimate punishment - public transport lol!!!

I refuse to be called "Everyone"... I am an individual and I make my own choices and I choose to respect the law and the reason why we have a 30 zone in place. I wouldn't have a leg to stand on if I killed someone whilst speeding, so I won't do it. I drive at 30 and if I can't keep the car at 30, I slip a gear and slow down to 27/28...

I can just picture it now, you driving along, leaning as far forward as possible so your head is almost touching the windscreen, car screaming for mercy in 2nd gear, leaving a trail of distruction in your wake, completely oblivious to all around you but adamant you are not a danger as you are not speeding!

Lol no, I've realised that the car has more than 2 gears now... Still not liking 5th though :P

The next time somebody is getting mad at being stuck behind you just remember that you are driving correctly and they are not.

If you are getting worried that they are driving too close flick your lights on (this usually makes people think you are bereaking) alternatively just slow down to 25, (if in a 30 zone) as 30 is the MAXIMUM speed you should travel at on that section of road sit back and enjoy the ride!
