I've just been around 3 different barbers shops and they're all closed!! what is it about Thursday's ????

Is there anywhere open for a haircut today other than the rip-off merchants at Meadowhell where you need to take out a mortgage to have a haircut?

Is this something to do with antiquated half-day closing?

If you're in town it might be to do with the imminent G8 events.

Maybe the barbers' union has turned out in force to protest at the G8 meetings.

I've not noticed any barbers closed on Thursday's. Most of the barbers I know close on Monday's if they are going to close and this is generally due to having been open on Saturday's.

Wow!! Does that mean if I work a Saturday Shift I can have Monday off?
In reply to the original question: Why don't you try a Hairdressers instead. They don't usually talk about football or fishing but they can do a mean gents haircut.

I think thats right. My barber has Wednesdays off.
It's the only Time he gets, to let his Hair down.

Seems to be the same in Hillsboro'. Think it derives from when Thursday was generally [& compulsory ??] half-day closing across the city, so if the barbers closed on Thursday to compensate for working Saturday they only lost half a day's trade.

Unless you prefer split days off. I would have thought that most people would prefer 2 days off together. Sunday & Monday.
