Put in your known to be working PSU and take out the graphics card; plug the monitor into your onboard slot and turn on the machine. Let us know. bobby89a 24-01-2009, 18:13 taken out the graphics card and replaced it with the old one which was workng before but still not working even the fan on the psu is not working Dave650 24-01-2009, 18:58 dead motherboard me thinks bobby89a 24-01-2009, 19:57 is there anyway i can be sure its the motherboard as i would hate to buy a new one only to find it was something else also wheres the best place to get a motherboard + have it fitted Trickle 24-01-2009, 20:27 Are you still receiving the message on screen stating that there is not enough power to the graphics card, now that you have replaced the PSU with the original 350W? Can you confirm you connected a power connector to the graphics card from the old 350W psu? Out of interest, what CPU is in the machine and what and graphics card is it? And what 500W PSU did you buy. Also, what does the sticker on the side say for its amperage capabilities at 12V? bobby89a 24-01-2009, 20:51 the computer is not working at all *Wallace* 24-01-2009, 20:54 For a couple of pints i could pop round and tell you it's ******ed :) Trickle 24-01-2009, 21:18 the computer is not working at all Under the following assumptions, then yes, its looking like its killed your motherboard. * You havent forgot something like reconnecting the 4 pin 12V connector as well as the main connector. * You retested whatever graphics solution you had before buying the new card. * You've checked the fuse. * You've removed the hard drive and optical drives, which may have been killed during the psu popping, and may be stopping the mobo starting up. kenthack 24-01-2009, 22:03 and if its got a switch on the power supply unit have you made sure youve not switched it off done this myself several times and it still gets me every now and then bobby89a 25-01-2009, 07:34 thank you for your replies but what i am looking for is somewhere i can take my computer to be repaired and any parts which are damaged replaced.
