Hi
I am using windows XP everytime I try to start defragmenter I receive a message "cannot start defragmenter" does this mean it is not installed on my machine or will I be able to begin this using F8 with the basic set up mode.
How do I defragment my machine now.

Sounds like your hard drive is getting full?
that could be the cause of your problem.

Your hard disk might have corrupt sectors, try running chkdsk from a command prompt and see if it comes up with anything

Try running it in safe mode. Usually you get this message if there is a process in the background that is trying to access you hard drive
