Have you tried ringing round local vets to you for a price, lozziep098 24-01-2009, 00:01 got a staffy and ye £140 from springfield were i am registered Plain Talker 24-01-2009, 00:21 Is it for a male or a female? It's more expensive to have a female done, but the long term benefits outweigh the short term risks and cost. As it's a staffy, is that charity (I forget the name, was it Rainrescue?) still doing vouchers for reduced cost spaying and Neutering? A friend of mine has acquired a "daffy-staffy" girl puppy (11 weeks old) and he was looking for help and advice about spaying a staff. sophiefletch 24-01-2009, 00:35 I thought it was the RSPCA that were doing the vouchers. Had my bitch done at Peak Vets and they were very competative, think it was 119 for everything. Moonbird 24-01-2009, 08:17 Is it for a male or a female? If you are on any benefits you may be eligible for vouchers from Dogs trust, but you still have to pay a percentage (I think £30 for a female, perhaps less for a male) the Pdsa also do reduced price neutering, innoculations and chipping for people on different benefits. Also if you have transport many people are recommending Spire vets at Chesterfield for being good and really cheap too. Paddy 24-01-2009, 20:22 I have recently adopted a very small male Jack Russell from the dog council dog pound. I have rung around a lot of vets and the cheapest I came up with was £90 at Broomhill Vets. They seemed the nicest too, they said I could bring a blanket or toy for him to help him settle. wellidontno 24-01-2009, 23:42 crooks vets near crystal peaks went other day to have dogs first needles theres a poster inside which says (((£30 neutered))) give them a call Gemima 25-01-2009, 01:05 Thats the dogs trust neutering voucher poster wellidontno, as mentioned in an earlier thread. Crookes charge a lot more than £30 for neutering. mike84 25-01-2009, 09:50 If you have transport spire vets in Chesterfield will be by far the cheapest. I only had my 2 cats done but it was £26 each as opposed to £55 each at my local vet. I haven't got the number on my but they are on yell.com. Lisspot 25-01-2009, 12:05 yeah they do charge alot more at crookes than £30 i know it's not the same breed of dog but i had my male shih tzu done for £80 and i got my female done £110 but it does depend on the weight of the dog teeny 26-01-2009, 16:39 Peak vets are good in woodseats. deelightful3 26-01-2009, 18:26 If you have transport spire vets in Chesterfield will be by far the cheapest. Sue Rainrescue 27-01-2009, 00:07 Broomhill have always been really good and helpful with any dog we get in and their bills seem reasonable too. deelightful3 27-01-2009, 06:59 Spire might be cheap but I would rather pay double than take my dog back there. Sue you must explain why, dont want to put my dog anywhere she may not be safe Moonbird 27-01-2009, 09:11 It might be nice if the op comes back to tell us what they choose and why etc, after all people have taken the trouble to reply. :) SUE89 27-01-2009, 10:30 you must explain why, dont want to put my dog anywhere she may not be safe I took my dog there many years ago, first off I hated waiting sometimes 2 hours to be seen as they have no appointment system. Totally misdiagnosed my dog, quite obvious to me it wasnt chronic arthritis when she had been fine the day before then suddenly couldnt get up. She had pulled a ligament and made a full recovery after I changed vets. Always seemed like a cattle market to me, very busy and rushed and not good treatment. I use Peak Vets now and wouldnt go anywhere else, they are fab. Sue |
