anyone travelling out to see the clashed on saturday, good value at only £7.....even though its out in the sticks.....last bus back to town at 11.30pm.....
was it a good night? We went to a pschobilly night in roth.
I thought it was a good night. Well the bands were good.Pistola kicks are not a pistols tribute - they are an original indie band. Service at the bar was very slow and there was no tiolet paper in the ladies which is unforgivable.Have seen a couple of bands at this place now and the service at the bar is terrible and really lets it down. The staff seem to be working hard but there are not enough of them and they don't stick to their own bit of the bar and wander about serving here there and everywhere. If the place goes bust it will be because thy are not getting the beer out quick enough.I would have spent much more money but going to the bar meant missing 3 songs.
went to the match first so it only cost us £3 each in a taxi from hillsborough, got in for free because my mate's from boro, but was right about the bar service but its more like a community centre with different functions on all at the same time and it took an age to get served....pistola kicks will be worth seeing again, and the clashed played a terrific set must have done the clash back catalouge,in all great value for money at £7,but the downside was getting home, not nice stuck in stocksbridge freezing our nuts off waiting for a black cab to take 5 of us back to the birley......
our next gig with john cooper clark on thur 26th feb boardwalk

'Our Generation' is the unique and very first account of the Punk generation of Sheffield and the local region told by the author and over 150 different and varied voices of the era. From the pre - Punk days and all the way through the summer of hate of 1977 Punk and beyond, the story takes in the many classic gigs, the clothes worn and searches for Identity, the groups formed and broken, the fans, the records, the violence and laughs along with many photos, flyers, rare tickets and memorabilia of the era. The books main focal point is the Punk explosion and its effect on the local youth, but also takes in Mod revivalists, 2-tone fans, New Romantics and passing anecdotes from some of the many well known Punk groups who have played at famous local venues such as Doncaster Outlook, Sheffield Limit club, Rotherham Windmill and Sheffield Top rank. Meetings with some of the most noted Punk generation musicians such as Joe Strummer, Paul Weller and Sid Vicious are also refreshingly told by fans in their own words.
