Look at this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technology/2008/12/can_the_mac_catch_a_cold.html). So, there is almost no point getting any. Still, if you want to slow your Mac down and feel safer then try this (http://www.clamxav.com/) for nothing or pay for something which won't be better.

www.intego.com if you want a paid-for one. iAntivirus is free, might be worth a spin.

Intego's site has a list of all known mac trojans etc. Currently there is one doing the rounds, but you can only pick it up from installing pirated software, so the solution to avoiding getting that is pretty simple!

DNSChanger was not a virus it was a Trojan.

A virus sneaks onto your computer unnoticed and does whatever it does in the background, without your knowledge.

A Trojan requires active cooperation on the users part. Usually it achieves this by pretending to be something else, hence the name.

In the case of DNSChanger, you not only actually downloaded and installed the Trojan yourself, you gave it admin permission to carry out its functions.
No anti virus program in the world can cover for that.

DNSChanger was killed off by an Apple security update sometime ago. Run Software Update if you haven't already.

To the OP, there are no virii at all that can currently affect Mac OSX. All you can do at the moment is use ClamAVX (already linked above) to avoid passing on a virus to Windows users by forwarding infected email. Set it to watch your Mail folder: (Users/your name/Library/Mail) and your Downloads folder.

Do not, under any circumstances purchase and install Norton Anti Virus or any Norton product for that matter. It will break your Mac.

I remember going to a seminar on computer hacking etc a few years ago and the subject of viruses came up. A guy from Norton stood up, did his presentation about how they combatted the threat and sat down again.

Then a guy from Apple stood up and said 'Whats a virus?' and promptly sat down again:)

We use PCs in our product design business simply because CAD software is more PC orientated (and I've grown up on the damned things!!!); I have friends with graphic design businesses who swear by the Mac...wheras I swear at the PC!
