Firemansam 22-01-2009, 14:15 What about West End Jewellers ? PopT 22-01-2009, 14:56 The little jewellers shop opposite the side door to Cole Brothers had some steps up to the door and it was called West End Jewellers as pointed out by Firemansam. The owner had one of those French metal antique singing birds in a cage, everytime I went in I asked him to set it off singing. I did want to buy it but he would never sell it. Happy Days! PopT Ousetunes 22-01-2009, 14:58 Not quite a jeweller's but I recall a shop called Pulse (and at some point, Impulse) at the top of Cambridge Street which sold alternative fashion, thus bangles and ear-rings as well as records to the rear, which was done out like a cave(rn). I think this was demolished, became a make-shift car-park and finally we got the RSVP monstrosity. nefertari 22-01-2009, 17:32 There was also one called Elite where I bought my wife's wedding ring in 1980. Yes they owned that one too,I forgot it was called Elite. |
