View Full Version : Cattery needed for may for 2 cats
staylor1295 20-01-2009, 20:14 Hi I am going away and need a cattery/cat sitter for dates 29th may till 6 june.
I am only on benefits so the money side of it has to be the cheapest. The best price i have come across is £80 for 2 cats sharing.
I do live in Maltby, so i am willing to travel to rotherham, sheffield, doncaster and surrounding areas for the cattery.
cheers in advance
Dronfieldcat 20-01-2009, 20:24 Steer clear of borderview cattery in bradway. We were going to leave ours there (reasonable rates and near our house) but it was disgusting. Cat fur and urine all over the pen from previous occupants, no litter tray, and no water. We should have guessed when they said they didn't need to see vaccination certificates! Needless to say, we walked out. I would advise you go and see the cattery first, and dont be tempted by low prices alone.
you may get a pet sitter to call in for around that price.
why not check with you vet to see if he knows of any good pet sitters working in your area, but do check them out properly before employing them
Good Luck.

Do they board dogs there too? if so one of my past employers took there old dog there for a week and he came back very poorly indeed, since then i now go and stay with their dog when they go away.
SpeedDemon 20-01-2009, 20:57 yes they do - our GSD has been a couple of times for long weekends and never had any problems. He's usually quite nervous when we leave him but they always seem really good with him.
I've never seen the cattery - didn't even know they had one.
Dronfieldcat 20-01-2009, 21:04 They do have dogs there, the cat bit is right next door. Didn't pay much attention to the dogs though, but I was a bit concerned they were right next to the cats barking away! I did think the kennels seemed very small, but I havent seen any boarding kennels before, just catteries. Our dogs always have lots of offers to stay with friends, so never had to use them!

well that would have been good if he had come back ok.
He had fleas , kennel cough , sore paws and ear canca( can't spell) which he didn't have before he went there. i was quite shocked but my ex employers never paid the bill and boaderview has never chased them for it .
They did complain the the right agencies too.
holidayhutch 20-01-2009, 22:26 Steer clear of Jaycliffe kennels and cattery too. Our dog is still suffering 4 months after being there, the L.A are in the process of prosecuting them and we have just won a private prosecution to regain our costs and they have a CCJ against them as a result.
We can offer you a pet sitting service if interested and cover Maltby. We have CRB checks, insurance and references. If you would like a quote or further information then please look at the website in my signature, contact details can be found there.:)
Appreciate you might not be able to say too much but what's the deal with Jaycliffe?
heavenlyarts 21-01-2009, 09:48 Come and look at us, we have recomendations on other threads.

do you have the relevent licences to do this?

Yes, a license is needed for home boarding.
We've used A1 Cats country hotel (http://sitebuilder.yell.com/sb/show.do?id=SB0003897571000050) a few times. They are pretty good. They adapt to your cats needs so will play with them or leave them alone as required.
janeyboo 28-01-2009, 21:12 yes i have relevent licences also Crb checked and insured

Yes, I'd recomend The Meers, our two boys go there & have always been well looked after & fussed over.
zeldazebs 31-01-2009, 11:26 My two cats have always stayed in Mosborough cattery. They have always come back healthy and happy (well as happy as they can be) I have (touching wood) never had a problem with them.
This yr is the test for me though as my dog will be going in this time aswell, I'm really nervous about this but I know they will look after her but for some reason it just feels different when its the dog.
Their prices are ok as well, £8.50 for both cats per day and £8.50 for he pooch per day.
