Hi,

Im having a paranoid trip re my crested gecko and the fact im pregnant and will have a new baby in the house soon. Im really concerned about the whole salmonella situation and was wondering what people would do in my boat.

Would you rehome it? I know there are cases where babies have died from contracting reptile salmonella.

Thanks

I would use gloves as a precaution when cleaning out.

I know there is a similar thing with Parrots I'm sure, and cat pooh, I've never heard of anyone getting ill from it though :)

Hubby does the cat trays-im just paranoid. Its because i was asking about turtles the other day at an aquarium and was advised against them and reptiles as im pregnant.

any animal can carry salmonella just make sure you keep your hands clean before and after handling/cleaning the crestie..wear gloves if your worried but theres no need to sell it just because your pregnant...your at the same risk touching any animal tbh which is slight

more risk from a cat or dog, much higher.....a crestie no risk, just wash your hands...

thats a load of crap from the aquarium, yes risk, same as anything, infact i would say more bugs on a kitchen side....
turts are higher in amounts, but cat crap is bad too.
