View Full Version : Looking for company to change slides into printed photos or onto CD??
designbunny 15-06-2005, 10:27 I'm looking for somewhere to change slides into printed photos or onto CD in Sheffield.
Does anyone know where this can be done and is it expensive - we have around 100+ slides to change!
horseface 15-06-2005, 12:29 Jacobs in Rockingham Gate S1 or Jessops should be able to do it for you.
But here in Sheffield there is also Peak Imaging who are very very good - they have a national reputation for quality, and they are really helpful and friendly, but maybe not the cheapest.

They are on the corner of Rockingham Street and Broad lane Sheffield S1.
theflyingfish 15-06-2005, 12:49 I would recommend harriosons cameras on London Road over jessops or jacobs - the chains' quality and service has been questionable in the past when I have used them, Harrisons are spot on every time.
If you are thinking of buying a new scanner you could do a lot worse than to buy an Agfa Snapscan e42, I have got one and I can download and print my own slides, the beauty of that is you can enlarge them, cut out the rubbish, brighten them in fact do anything you want. I have got about 300 slides when I get round to doing them.
Hope this has helped
Just out of interest, how many slides can you scan at once on that Agfa scanner, and can you use mounted slides without removing them from their mounts?
Thank you!

Give peak a ring or an email and ask for a price,a quantity discount should apply:thumbsup:
matsalleh 15-06-2005, 16:35 If you have a decent digital camera and a tripod you can do it yourself!
Make or buy a light table and photograph the slides, or if you want to be really professional buy a slide copier.

Hi Damon
You can scan 3 prints at once. What happens is that when you are scanning slides the light changes from being in the base to being on the lid and you use special frames that come with the scanner to transfer the image through to the base of the machine.
Hope you understand a little more about the working of the scanner. I havnt used it a lot yet but you can enlarge from the size of the slide to 6x4 without losing much quality, I havnt tried them any bigger yet but I'm sure they will turn out quite good.
Sorry, yes you can use mounted slides but I think they are better if you can take them out of the mount.
Cheers Sparky - most useful. Thank you.
Magneteer 16-06-2005, 15:48 I called in Jacobs todayand they charge £4.99 for 40 slides.
