i am looking for an old friend who attended maltby street school in the 60s her name then was Christine Hayes, does anyone know her? I lived on Clay street and Christine lived close but i cant remember which road she lived on. I would also like to hear from anyone else who went to maltby street school. I remember Yvonne Fish,Ruth Stott, Jean Horner, Peter Rodgers, Diane Senior, Andrew Clayton,Patrick Dalton, Caroline Sontagg and Inga Malia. The Head master i think was Mr Wild and there was Mrs Marriot and Mrs Worrall but i cant really remember any others. Can anyone jog my memory?. I was at maltby street from probably 1961/2 to 1967 and i was Lynda mitchell then. I would also be interested to hear from anyone who lived on clay street i remember the James family and the meynells and the Gilbeys i moved from attercliffe around 1970.

Lots of memories of Maltby Street, kids and staff who went there. Do you remember David Allen (big kid with blond hair) and his mate Keith Parkinson. Yvone Fish I met at a Matby Street reunion some years ago along with Steve Howe and David Malia (think his sister Inga became a teacher). I can recall most of the names that you mentioned. I was at Maltby St a bit before this, in fact I left in 1957 and went straight into a job. Wrote a letter to C&A's in an English lesson and started a week after leaving.
I don't recall any of the names so far mentioned but you were all perhaps in the infants when I was in the seniors :) It's just nice to read about other people that went to the old school because sometimes I wonder if it was only me. There doesn't seem to be much mention of it and nothing seems to change on the Friends Re-united site either.
I saw the photos of when it was pulled down though.... that was sad.
Sorry for poking my nose in but just wanted to mention it:thumbsup: although it doesn't help the op in the slightest...oops sorry again.

Well Delvis definately existed and was the same age, mmm, Steve Howe remembered her as well when we met some years ago. There was a group of other Burgins with older sister who worked in the chippie, Jean Burgin,a year older than me and Julie Burgin, I think a year younger. Tina Hall was a year older, had a car accident when she was younger. Keith was a great lad, used to play with him a lot. Wasn't there a lad up Leigh street called Roger Smith in my year. Used to ahng about with Pat Dalton, used to eb around 10 of them all together. Remember the iconic places where we used to hang. Corner of Clay Steet at the juction, the graveyard of course, the adelpi and the Pav on saturday mornings watching teh Zorro films. I bet Ian remembers shinning over the pole under the aquaduct to get to the cut. Howie and I used to build rafts and 'sail' downto steel works. Those wert days!!!

Hi Lyn. I remember Cheyanne.

we must have made that blokes life a misery :( not maliciously but just being a nuisance, no-one else in the yard seemed to bother but he was a man on a mission! We were like greased lightnin, sliding down tip n then straight down entry wi-out being seen. We should be so lucky, he must've had a built in radar, he was out that back door like Jack Flash :D

Hiya Jonno et al,
just re-read this info. Jonno you're right, Roland Senior. I carry a hand tattoo of a cross made using a needle and ink. It was Roland Senior who gave me the tattoo, probably at his house. I always say to the kids at school that it was an initiation mark to the Sheffield "Hells Angels". Anyway it probably started my love affair with motorbikes. Great one Jonno for unearthing that memory. What your first motorised transport ladies and gents?
