Is this pub still open?
Is the cricket pitch ever used (for cricket!)?
Thanks

Not sure about the cricket pitch, but if you mean the pub opposite the church, it's been closed down for years.

Its been closed since about 2003??? A long time....probably the longest any pub has been boarded up and not re-opened or demolished in fact.....

Last I heard it was to be demolished, to make way for... Wait for it, Luxury Flats! Eh?! Where's the demand for luxury flats in Stannington?! Especially given the high concentration of Pensioners in the Village.

Rich, I've already responded to your post which is worded almost exactly the same on another thread, but you've either not read it or taken in the info. Please don't keep repeating the mantra about the luxury flats - there's no foundation whatsoever for this. This is how it is :

Developers have bought the land on which the Hare and Hounds (now derelict) stands. The proposal is to demolish the building and build 2 houses on the site. As part of the planning permission, they wil restore the cricket pitch and provide car parking.

Are you sure? Is there a planning application in? Enterprise Inn still own the site as far as i know.

By the way modbots if this was a going out question i'd have put it in the going out section myself....
