New 5-a-side football team
I’m planning on setting up a new 5/6-a-side football team to join one of the midweek leagues in Sheffield (not yet sure which day or location). I know a couple of people who are interested, but generally I’m starting completely from scratch. In my uni days I ran an 11-a-side team who were competitive on the pitch, but the social side of things were easily as important, if not more so. I’m hoping that I can recreate that. Post-match beers being necessary to either celebrate or drown sorrows!
If you’re interested then please drop me an email.
Here’s the rough plan:
Those who are interested to get together for some friendly matches, to get to know each other a little and to give people a chance to see whether the set-up feels right. During this time, I’ll keep tabs on the options for a league to enter.
After honing our skills, we’ll register with one of the leagues and obliterate everybody. There are plenty of leagues and locations. I’ll try my best to get a team into the league which most suits everybody involved.
If all’s going well (regardless of league position) towards the end of the first season, I’ll start looking into sponsorship and a proper kit etc.
I’ve spoken to the organisers of the Goals league and the Powerleague, and it’s not worth making the steps to register until you’ve got a team together. Hence nothing’s yet set in stone, just because it’s impossible to do so. But if you’re interested, please drop me an email with the following information:
Your name and contact number
Which weeknights you CAN make
Whether you have a preference of league to join
Send emails to lukepurse@ntlworld.com
I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes.
Luke
