Hi all,

I'm posting this thread to ask for assistance from individuals that are employed in libraries as either librarians or library assistants, or other related role.

I'm applying for a job as a library assistant and in the person specification there is mentioned the following:

"Essential: Reasonable awareness of academic environment and priorities."
"Desirable: Familiarity with library procedures."

The vacancy is at an academic institution and I do have a fitting, extensive previous employment history however no experience in an academic library in a similar capacity to the vacancy. I have however been a student not so long ago so I am familiar with academic resources like journals, academic search engines, numeric and alphabetical file systems etc but I am finding this quite ambiguous so it would be a big help if said forumers could identify and point me in the right direction.

Thanks a bunch.
L-V-S.
