View Full Version : What's your item of 'comfort clothing?'
FairyNormal 14-06-2005, 19:52 I'm sat here wearing a huge black cardigan that I have had for probably about 15 years. It's full of holes and has only 2 buttons left but I can't bear the throw it away. It's just so comfy, snuggly and warm. It's really out of shape and I'd never be seen dead in it out of the house, but guaranteed, if it's a bit chilly or I'm feeling ill, out it comes.
So then, do you have a favourite bit of 'comfort clothing'?
If so, what is it?
I love wearing slacks like most people, but i'm more comfy in them if their well ironed and have a nice sharp crease down the middle, otherwise i'm a slob.
mine is an jumper i wore for school, its a united colours of benniton one! i wear it in winter under me big coat, its now 8 years old and still looks not bad!!!!
a pair of pyjama bottoms that I have had for 11 years and they seem to grow with my tummy and bum as they get bigger. Even thoughout pregnancy they have grown then decreased as necessary.
I love to lay on the settee with my tatty cashmere blanket (ooh posh I know - from a relative with more dosh than sense) in the Winter evenings and snooze. And if feeling abit off it and off to bed early out come the pyjama bottoms and on they go and I instantly feel comforted. Like a big hug off my dad.

I just have a picture of Poppins in a pair of crimplene 'slacks' lying on the couch with her Lemsip (or equivalent) fussing more about her creases getting crumpled than the germs attacking her :hihi:
I had this great chunky jumper at school that got worn so much that it only came off to go in the washer. I never thought I would get so attached to a piece of school uniform. Obviously the first signs of a nervous breakdown
redrobbo 14-06-2005, 21:02 Mine's a pair of jeans. Really comfortable, even though they are full of holes. I suspect that one day soon they will not survive the washing machine though!
A black leather jacket from Lakeland. Also, a pair of 'distressed' Nike Trainers.
My husband's "lounge pants". Big and comfy although a little long in the leg. Navy blues checks and a drawstring. Far too ponsy for him they make him look like a DFS ad model!!! lol
a black silk dressing gown what my girlfriend bought me 3 years ago I cant wear a cotton dressing gown as it makes me come out in blisters hence I dont wear cotton boxers they have to be made of silk expensive though but well worth it. my other comfort clothing is a red velour sweatshirt what I wear in the winter I have had for 10 years and I will never get rid of it it was bought for me by my foster mum before she died.
LellyBee 14-06-2005, 22:23 baggy sweatpants, old vest and comfy bra's with the bones taken out
Yodameister 14-06-2005, 22:27 I have a jumper that has been all over Europe with me several times.
It actually looked quite smart and stylish on me when I bought it (Yes, I know for those of you that have met me that is hard to believe!)
It certainly doesn't now, but it is comfy as anything.
Oh and my T Shirt that I wear in bed, it probably has about 10 major holes in it but is incredibly comfy.
WallBuilder 14-06-2005, 22:39 A few years ago I spent several months in hospital and grew VERY attached to a big old hiking pullover that I had. I used to wrap it round my shoulders whilst sat up in bed and when I needed a nap I'd use it as a pillow and drape one arm over my eyes to cut out the light. I know it's odd but found it to be a safe, secure thing at a time when my life was in turmoil.
I've still got it and in the winter it can often be found on my sofa in case it's needed as I can be extremely frugal with my central heating.
BoroughGal 14-06-2005, 22:42 Kristian will vouch for my comfy clothes, I LOVE them....
It's a pair of grey velvet jogging bottoms with pink stripes down them, and a huge baggy blue Replay sweatshirt. Not terribly attractive but so nice especially when straight out of the tumble dryer.

Draggletail 14-06-2005, 23:57 Well. after a hard days Draggling I like nothing better than changing into a rough hessian sack - it suffices as a shirt - I don't mind the scratchiness, or the itching, or the ........
(best not go there).......:gag:
Then I will go to my cold, dank corner in the Dark Place and rest my weary head, until the hour before dawn......
It's not really that bad Fetish Fairy ;) but I must admit, I don't do comfort clothing :suspect:

Alas, poor Fergus, my best and trusty dog who would never have betrayed me......
Eaten. I had to scoff him. There was no food in the dark place. Yummy Fergus burgers *Draggletail wipes back of hand across greasy chops*
Ha! Just kiddin' :D
*Stern stare*
Spaniel burgers are non veggie
It sounds really sad but my girlfriend's hoody. I wear it all the time, especially when we're apart. It's lovely and warm and I can just curl up in it on the sofa and... yeah.. sad right?

Red...
Theres no fear of that, I promise you! But if you DID see me in them, you'd be priviledged, only my VERY special friends see me in my slobbing attire.... probably because I look MINGING in them!
Maybe when you're invited for a party, eh?

ive nicked my girlfirends pink shorts a year ago and they havent left me since
DanSumption 15-06-2005, 11:08 When I'm at home, after a bath I sometimes slip into my djillabi (I'm sure I've spelt that wrong - it's a robe worn by Egyptian men, goes right down to the feet), just that and nothing else. Very comfy for lounging about the house.
Don_Kiddick 15-06-2005, 11:32 When I was a pre-teenager (12ish) I used to have a blue snorkel coat with orange nylon lining.
This was the most UNfashionable thing ever in the history of everything (mind you these days it would pass as an impressive hoodie!!)
Anyway, I loved that coat. Warm. Waterproof. Furry inner to hood. Big shoplifting pockets. When zipped right up it was like peering through a hollow log.
I had my name & address written in indellible pen down the inside of one sleeve - incase it ever got nicked! :hihi: :D
Still got one of those in the garage Don_Kiddick! I liked the way the hood stayed facing forwards when you turned your head, so crossing the road became an exciting dice with death!
spiffymonkey 15-06-2005, 11:37 I have a great dressing gown, made of towelling. It's old and threadbare, mostly brown with pink cuffs and edging (were white, but the washing machine sorted that!)
I do have a replacement dressing gown, but it's just not the same. My lovely old brown gown, combined with tatty old fluffy slippers (in the shape of comedy wolves heads) make a perfect way to slob around of an evening.
KookyKoo 15-06-2005, 16:14 Mine are my pyjama bottoms, I have about 6 pairs, ranging from a £2 Primark pair to some DKNY ones. I love them all the same and they go straight on as soon as I get in from work (just the one pair at once, mind!). Also a green hoody that says Texas on that my sister bought me about 5 years ago. Ahhh can't wait to go home and put them on now!!!

DNKY and hoody tops? You sound like you actually look GOOD in your slobbing gear!
KookyKoo 15-06-2005, 17:06 hmmm well not exactly "good" but passable to answer the door if it goes I guess!!! hehehe.
PrincessSam 15-06-2005, 17:23 For just lounging around the house I'd say my favourite piece of comfort clothing would be my blue zip up hoody thing from Gap. Its made of really odd material so it look like it has lots of little indentations on it. It has a bleach mark on it by now, but it's so comfy.
KookyKoo 15-06-2005, 17:43 your blue Gap hoody is a damn fine piece of loungewear, PrinessSam!

You thought it might get nicked! I bet not even BoroughGal would have been tempted to steal it!

BoroughGal 16-06-2005, 00:09 Ooooh, cheeky, Red...
Are you going to tell everyone about your comfy clothes, and your pink pants???
I can see Red in a horse thong......:hihi:

noseyrosie 16-06-2005, 00:12 I can't actually cope without my shrug (mini-cardigan thing for all you non-fashion literate people). I'm surgically attached to it! It goes with everything...

big pink fat-face hoody
david + goliath t-shirt (boys are smelly)
