View Full Version : New Meeting Site For Our Area
Paul2412 14-06-2005, 18:51 I've recently been putting together a meeting/dating site for Yorkshire and have more or less finished it now. What I need is people to use all the features (which are free) and tell me what you think and if there is anything really bad about it (before I spend money promoting it!).
Anyone who signs up and uses it properly (i.e, register proper details, posts pictures and uses the features) can have free access forever should the site be successful.
Features on it include posting pictures, instant messaging, a search robot, chatroom and soon it will allow you to upload a video of yourself as well.
There is'nt anyone on it because i've only just uploaded it so please register and it might become popular. It is dedicated to just Yorkshire.

Any problems/suggestions etc please just reply to this post. Cheers!
On signup the date of birth format is in US and not UK - can we have day of month and then month ?
Gender selection - Should say Male or Female not Man or Woman
When searching, the sex you're searching for would be better as Men and Women not Man and Woman, and the age range is from 16 to 16 - most sites have 16 to 48 by default [saves typing anything]. And can we have search for all of yorkshire rather than doing 4 searches ?
Your terms and conditions need looking at - you are not allowed to signup unless over 21 yet you can search for people over 16 ?!
and it says "Block with name Formform does't exist" on top left of the t's and c's :suspect:
One last thing... in the terms and conditions it says the data is secure.... but the signup page isnt a https:// page so it isnt !
You may wish to sort this as it flies in the face of your terms and conditions that say you have safeguards in place...

Paul2412 14-06-2005, 20:15 Comments on board!
Agree with all the points after looking into them. Your point about all of Yorkshire however is done on purpoase as I want to localise it as much as possible. For example Faceparty and sites like that just say "Yorkshire". This could mean Hull or Halifax so is not local to our region. If you choose South Yorkshire, you know everyone is within a local area

Paul2412 14-06-2005, 20:37 I cant seem to change that! the site is a pre-made site which is designed for america... at the end of the day its supposed to be a free site where people can meet from yorkshire, so you cant expect too much!

What I'm not sure abaat is what do you mean by 'meeting' dya mean like 'hi & all' or 'meeting' as in looking for a partner ?
Paul2412 14-06-2005, 21:52 Whatever you want really. Its officially a dating website but there are chatrooms etc that you can have a group discussion in. Its always good to put a picture to people you are talking too!
cgksheff 14-06-2005, 21:53 So how are you going to limit it to Yorkshire folk, then?
Paul2412 14-06-2005, 21:58 well generally if you live in hertfordshire, you would look for hertfordshire... So if you cant find it, you dont register! If someone from inverness wants to register and say they are from south yorkshire then thats their choice! But they probably wont get much out of the site...
I have no issue with this but are you allowed to go from 16+?
:o 16 to 65 :suspect: don't you think you are asking for trouble having 16 year olds on this site (no offence to 16 year olds) please becareful girls/boys you never know who you are talking too :) please use common sense.
