Ok, iv tried everything to set up my PS3 online
I have linked it to my wireless router downstairs and input the WEP key but it WONT work!
Im looking for someone to come round and do it for me!
The offer is £10 which IF you know what you are doing is EASY money!
I dont mind paying i just want to go online!
please get in touch via 07816012625
Please be aware i will ONLY pay you if you FIX the problem not for just turning up so make sure u know how to set it up!
When you say it WONT work, what happens?
what error does it give? when you say 'down stairs' it might not be a strong enough signal, as a pure test move your PS3 downstairs closer to the router and then try it.. if it then works, then yes its likeley a weak signal upstairs which is what causes it.
(even with a weak signal it can see the network, but can't always connect)
Temporarily switch the routers firewall off. On your PC, type into the address bar 196.168.2.1 which should get you into the menu. If you've never set an admin password up on it, the password will either be blank
9as in nothing) or 'Admin'.
After you've done that, try and get online again. If it works, we can take it from there.
I had a hell of a problem with the PS3 but the 360 set itself up. The Wii was pretty simple too.
On your PC, type into the address bar 196.168.2.1 which should get you into the menu.
it could also be..
10.1.1.1
10.0.0.1
192.168.1.1 (most common)
192.168.0.1
192.168.100.1

cheers guys
It says it has a %70 signal with the BT router although im not sure how to "swtich " the firewall off
Ill try wot u suggested but im confused with it all!:hihi:
Have you security enabled on your router ? If so you need to pop in the mac code of your ps3. I've just tried to get mine connected to no avail however I'm sure that's down to inputting the 63 digit/character WPA-PSK Security Encryption code into the ps3.
Good luck
You should be using WPA/WPA2 security anyway, much harder for outsiders to hack!
it could also be..

Thats pretty low unless there's a few walls between your unit and the router. Are you sure it's yours that your seeing?

It's usually your default gateway IP, which can be found by entering "ipconfig" into a command prompt.
