Strix 14-06-2005, 16:20 Bout time too. If they put them in boots, we may be able to sort out the age old row about offside too msbehavin 14-06-2005, 16:21 Empty your mailbox Ms Strix! Robbie Loving 14-06-2005, 17:27 so we might as well get rid off linesmans then strix? also..... imagine the scenario here, a defending players head is further back than an offending players foot, yet his foot is further forward than the players foot, would that the be classed as offside, if you get what i mean also.... as per micro chips in footballs, how would that work? most grounds in the country/world have more than one ball, and when one goes out of player another gets thrown in, would this not cause confusement between the chips? the balls would also either be rattling, or the chips would break from all the kicking, Strix 14-06-2005, 17:33 Actually, I'd prefer to see video reffing. Only for incidents where the whistle has already been blown. Football is the only sport on the planet where the armchair fan has more technology available to make judgements than the officials at the venue  Or perhaps there would be nothing to talk about in the pub if the reffing was fair ;) duffman 14-06-2005, 17:45 if all this technology went ahead in football where would the excitement be? No discussions in the pub about was it over the line or not? No enacting revenge in a game after being beaten by your rivals on a contraversial decision last time round! No managers doing their nut in the post match interview! I for one would miss all that. madowl 16-06-2005, 00:12 Taking things abit too far........:suspect: wassup 16-06-2005, 03:02 microchips are not reliable solution, it will have its own problems. the only solution for some complicated situation is introducing video reply. it can only be used to be sure if a goal is a vaild or invalid goal. not for any other issues as the rest are controlled perfectly by the ref. Don_Kiddick 23-06-2005, 06:41 I'd heard they were going to put bells inside them opening the game to the visually impaired :hihi: David Blunkett is dilaghted:cool: Arnold 24-06-2005, 15:34 The micro chip idea would be a bit to expensive for teams. Puting a chip in every ball and every boot, plus having the technology to work the data from these chips, would all be oo expensive for every team. And if only the rich teams did it, then other teams would be being reffed unfairly. I think football is good because, as part of the sport, it is down to human judgement and error sometimes. The odd mistake makes the game more intresting and controversial, it would be boring and robot like if all this technology came in. People say every other sport uses technologhy, but football is the best and this may be one of the reasons. PhilipB 24-06-2005, 15:54 Plays right into the hands of the Scots. As Alex Salmond their leader says, England won the world Cup in 1966 with a 2-2 draw. BorisMarakas 24-06-2005, 16:09 It would be easier to have a sensor in the goalposts which can tell if the ball has crossed the line, or in rugby have a video ref for the 30seconds it takes it would be worth it, if it decisions like the roy carroll incident were rectified. Although any tom, dick or harry would have been able to tell that went over the line. Agent Gypo 24-06-2005, 16:12 Perhaps referees and officials should be issued with glasses. Why not have a goal-line official? He could stand behind goal and see what really happens. Or maybe two extra linesmen? |
