View Full Version : Hair Straighteners - Men do you use them?
My friend who is male and claims to be straight uses hair straighteners on his hair and claims this is normal?
Do other gay/straight men use them? Post your thoughts!
I also have a male friend who claims this is normal as he uses them.
I dont believe him:loopy:
Our hairdresser uses them on Mr Strix, Mr S would never attempt to inflict such a thing on himself (although he seems very pleased with the result when James does it)
A male flat mate of mine from last year (the vainest guy I've ever met, thought he was God's gift to women!) used to use them. Oh, wait. He didn't use them. He used to knock on the door of my room 15 minutes before going out every night and ask ME to straighten his hair with MY hair straighteners. (I stopped doing this after realising he only had a shower once a week and thats why my straighteners were getting all gunky :gag: )
I used to use hair straigteners when my hair was longer... infact I used to blow dry then straighten them after every shower...
my hair used to get really frizzy and curly otherwise... whats gay about taking pride in your appearance? :?
you people really worry me at times... I suppose its gay to brush your teeth twice a day too? or to clean your face with anything but soap and water? :?

Or to use soap at all :gag:
Real men shouldn't
Use hair straightener
Know any more detail about what they use in the shower other than 'its soap' or 'shampoo'
Pay more than £10 for a haircut
Know what 'product' is, or what to do with it.
Wear make-up
Im sure the list goes on and on, but thats my tuppence worth.
P.S. I dont think its a gay thing. Its a 'self love' thing. I think 'GAY' is just the first thing you think of, which Im sure offends 'proper' gays. Uber camp maybe?

i use shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, and i know what brand they are seen as I buy them myself :?
dont pay for my haircuts...
what product is?... your grammar gone wrong there or something?
i've wore nail varnish in the past in my more goth days :?
guess I must love myself... either that or I just like my hair to look nice and my body to smell nice... surprisingly enough a lot of women like men that take pride in their appearance and actually wash... dont ask me why, I mean it really doesn't have an obvious answer now does it? :loopy:
Yes all my male friends use them, gay and straight! well those with hair long enough (in a 'trendy' long way) to do so.
Well, much as the ladies love you....you still aint a real man
Product is what you put in your hair, apparently. So no, nothing wrong with the grammar there.
I just like my hair to look nice and my body to smell nice You couldnt say anything gayer. (in a non gay bashing way) Nothing wrong with not wanting to stink, but wanting to have nice hair and to smell nice ???:suspect: Surely a man should just want to be clean and smart, maybe a splash of aftershave at most!:o
Theres taking pride in your appearance and theres being one of many gays in the villiage - youre leaning to the latter. I dont know, men buying conditioner, wanting to look 'nice', using hair staighteners - whats the world coming to?:D
Whats next?? Wearing nighties to bed? Shaving your legs?? Watching Big Brother???
Note: I neither hate nor fear gay people! This post is mostly in jest - dont take seriously!!! Although I do worry about some men;)
My son uses my hair straighteners! I don't see the problem...it is only a hairstyle at the end of the day I guess!!
In the early 80's boys were sneered at for using hairspray/gel etc but then when the new romantic/punk scene really took off it became more and more acceptable for men to use hair products and even make up!
With the mens skincare products now available it would be 'ignorant' to expect only gay men to use them...straight guys should care for their complexions as much as anybody else.
:)
Draggletail 14-06-2005, 23:40 Yeah, I use Mrs Draggles straighteners two or three times a week, then I tie it back into a ponytail (whats left of it) or if it's a weekend I might wear it loose and rock:headbang:
redrobbo 14-06-2005, 23:48 I've naturally straight hair - so have no need for straighteners.
i've used them for nearly 3 years now - on my second set of GHDs, was useful back then for keeping my mullet in order
mullets gone (long ago) but still use them!
Longshanks 15-06-2005, 13:39 Was gonna mention that Draggletail uses my straighteners but thought I'd be in deep trouble! So there, he's proved me wrong.;) I have to say, I encourage him to use them - they do make him look like a cool dude.
Whilst he's using them? :hihi:
Never had him down as the 'hairdresser' type LS ;)
