View Full Version : Why are my eyes yellow?
Anyone here a doctor? Or a med student? Or someone who might be able to tell me why my eyes are yellow at the moment?
I've been ill for a few days, as a result of a trip to Santino's and a nasty run in with some chicken, but whilst I am pretty much fully recovered the whites of my eyes are still yellow.
Anyone know what might be the cause of this? And how I can make it stop?
thanks
Ousetunes 14-06-2005, 13:21 Sounds like jaundice.
It's okay, you can't trust me: I'm NOT a doctor.
Yeah sounds like Jaundice to me...or poisoning (liver failure) - I am not a doctor either...:hihi:
Have you tried NHS Direct??
I know this forum can be useful and informative but sometimes you just have to walk out that door and speak to some real carbon based folk!
Go see the doctor:rolleyes:
yellow eyes could be one of a few things: Jaundice, Anemia or Hepatitis.
Hepatitis is an infection of the liver, which could have breen brought on by heavy drinking.
Here is a link that you may find useful: http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/yellow_eyes.htm
Or maybe you can find something here: http://familydoctor.org/
Yeah, I've called NHS direct, who said after much deliberation that I should call my GP, who can't see me until this friday.
Will check out the links though, so thanks for that.
cgksheff 14-06-2005, 15:45 Keep an eye on your urine colour.
If it is darkening it is another symptom of a jaundice/hepatitis condition.

What a joke the NHS is, you call in with what seems to me like a serious complaint and you can not get seen for another 2 days. I am sure you wont, but imagine if you died between now and Friday? Sorry hoba
I would call an emergency doctor out tonight after hours.
So the whole thing has cost loads of money to the nhs, because of cutbacks.
:loopy:
nhs walk in centre is open till 10pm at Hallamshire try there:thumbsup:

We took one of the kids to the walk in centre last week and they were very helpful. You may have to wait a couple of hours but it is better than waiting several days.
dirtybristow 14-06-2005, 18:27 If you're still at home, get to the walk in centre tonight. You may have liver damage from what sounds like food poisoning. The problem with liver damage is that it shows up after the damage has started, so the sooner you get checked out the better. The Hallmashire is the right place for you too, that's where the liver specialists are based.
Carborundum 14-06-2005, 23:22 If its yellow eyes, dark urine and pale faeces with/without a pain in your right side it sould like one of the hepatitises you've got ...

So Hoba,
I hope that you have recovered or are recovering.
If you are still around, can you tell us what was diagnosed?
drolnhoj 20-07-2005, 17:58 Does anyone know what happened to hoba?
