Have you seen the new underwear ads with Posh Spice in them?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/lostinshowbiz/2009/jan/16/victoria-beckham-lost-in-showbiz

I find them a bit chilling to be honest, she's like a Terminator in knickers, weirdly asexual.

She neither has that 'fragile' appeal that other underweight women have nor does she have the earthy appeal that the usual underwear models have - the Kelly Brooks etc. So posing her like that was a bit of a mistake. It looks like she's just come from the future to seduce and then murder someone with the gun hidden in her arm. :o

Not appealing at all, sorry!

She looks better than I thought she would. I was expecting something a bit more Belsen.

I wonder what guys think? From my view, it wouldn't make me think "Oooh, I wouldn't mind that look so I'll get some of those pants!" It more makes me think I wouldn't buy those pants because they're not very alluring :|

Makes me think that she could do with a few Sunday lunches down her.

I think she looks fine. Her boobage looks natural, and she looks rather less skeletal than usual. Her clavicle looks like it's making a break for freedom though.

She looks a little glum, perhaps, but Posh doesn't do happy and neither do fashion ads. Pants are serious business.

Reminds me of Katie Holmes' new (http://dlisted.com/node/30183) ads (http://dlisted.com/node/30212) for Miu Miu.

Clever use of light and shadow and probably judicious use of the airbrush.

'Looks' natural is the word - those boobs came out of a catalogue. If she was a normal weight and they stayed in proportion they'd probably be 36Ms or something :o

Maybe her clavicle is part of her steel Terminator skeleton and it's about to slash up the photographer? :hihi:

Aren't we commenting on the ad image and not the actuality of Posh's twig figure and implants?

The woman in that photo might have only a passing resemblance to the Posh of the paparazzi photos - same goes for any other ad campaign with any other model - but in that image, her cleavage looks natural and I think she looks attractive enough. Of course it's all illusory, but that's what advertising is all about.

True! I think they look rounder because she's doing that pose where you lean forwards and subtly push everything forward with your arms - this will be why we can't see her ribs too!

If you see the other pic where she's on the floor, she's posed so she's tilted up a bit which again gives an illusion of roundness, whereas if they'd wanted her to look thinner they'd have tilted her backwards.

It's more the cold asexuality of her that I'm on about - she looks really, really sinister. Like she's just killed someone or is about to. :o

Some like that sort of thing :D . Those Armani Code (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uigjrGut_y8&feature=related) ads which were all over the TV before Christmas are in a similar vein. Couldn't find the one with the focus on the bloke, alas.

I used to think Posh was the best looking when she was in the Spice Girls, nowadays she's a bit too thin IMO, needs to bulk up a bit.

I know which ads you mean. Not very appealing I think, stark and cold and very unsexy - as Victoria Wood once put it, "with all the sexual allure of Kapok". :hihi:

Mind, looking at these pics, Posh is a very, very ugly woman so I suppose they have to find some new angle on her to give her some edge as underwear models are usually have quite 'pretty' faces.

If kapok had the allure of the bloke in those ads, I'd be reaching for my sleeping bag more often. They're going for the vulpine/lupine female/male sexy in the Armani ads, so certainly a bit sinister. I suppose Posh is more preying mantis than vixen though :hihi: .

A bit harsh I think, but it's all subjective I grant you. I always thought she was pretty, in a conventional sort of way. Way too thin these days, though her elfin hair suits her.

ETA: Found the blokes' Armani Code ad (http://www.clipser.com/watch_video/1061815).

Doesn't work for me - the people they use are too Vanilla and/or Bling to ever come across as sexy in that kind of way. No, she comes over like a Terminator, quite the opposite from being very earthy and Wolfish.

A bit like a kitchen appliance with skin on.

Wolfish is dirty, hairy and rough. Grrrrr. Sean Bean in Sharpe is Wolfish. Even Amy Whinehouse could do Wolfish. Posh with her disinfected appearance, isn't. More Hamster-ish.

Doesn't work for me...
I really don't see the 'Posh as League of Gentlemen ugly' thing, and Amy Winehouse is mostly just a bit grubby, rather than the predatory, dangerous etc which are my lupine connotations.

Hey ho. Subjective, as I said.

It's that snout....oops....nose :hihi:

Not only does she have Miss Piggy's nose, but her mouth won't shut properly because of all the lard she's had injected into it, and she has those weird alien eyes like one of the Greys. And even a crease between them from frowning so much because she's always got the face on.

I don't even understand the 'fashion icon' thing as she's always dressed like a transvestite. Her hair is vile, she went from that Office Girl bob to multicoloured rats' tail extensions to looking like she's just had it shaved in prep for a dose of ECT.

You think I'm over-egging it? Listen, if beaky skeleton Sarah Jessica Parker ever brings out a range of skids and poses like the She-Devil you'll hear some real bitching. ;)

Sometimes, you've just got to have a right good bitch!

She is ugly as sin though - and I'm sick of opening newspapers and having to look at her and take an interest in her when she's done little more of merit than drop her pants to David Beckham - if this is what the 'meritocracy' is all about then worraloadarubbish (said in a Nan off Catherine Tate voice). :gag:

She was (is?) a member of the Spice Girls who are/were, according to the BBC (according to Wikipedia, and no I'm not bothered enough to go looking for better sources!), the best-selling girl group of all time.

And she's hardly just 'dropped her pants' has she? - they've been married for years and have three kids.

Uh, you could always ignore her, y'know, rather than getting so hot under the collar. You don't harbour secret guilty thoughts, do you? You sure as 'eck do a lot of protesting about how much you don't find her attractive.. ;)

We even used to laugh at her when she was in the Spice Girls. All the others would be doing their singing and dancing and giving it loads, and she'd just stand there pointing and pursing her mouth up.

That 'posh' thing used to make us laugh as well - I used to think if that's posh then I must be Royalty :hihi:

Ugh, if I was going to feast at the hairy cave I'd go for someone earthy and lusty looking :D You know, someone like Kate Winslet or Billie Piper. Posh would probably make you use some anti-bacterial wipes or something. :o

I hate this ruddy marketing machine that tells us who we are supposed to think is attractive - she epitomises it.

But she's harmless. She keeps her private life private, doesn't (seem to) take drugs, smoke or drink to excess, (seems to be) a good wife and mother.

She obviously choses to keep herself very slim/thin so ok have a dig about that if you really need to. The rest of your stuff just seems such a personal attack on the face someone was born with. It's not like she's had a load of plastic surgery that you're mocking, is it?

And so what if she can't sing or dance to whatever standard you're comparing her to. Hardly merits the viciousness you were venting, does it? Even more credit to her for being part of the most successful (or whatever) girl band ever, surely.

If someone tries to make a fortune out of being 'gorge' when they aren't, then they will get bitched about - it's part of the territory.

Aren't you sick of this celebrity culture where everything they do from wiping their noses to wearing a different pair of shoes is shoved down our throats? Blech. :gag: I wouldn't mind if they actually were attractive things to look at.

Which brings me back to those ads - do you find them alluring? Or chilling and asexual?

Not in the slightest bit alluring. I think as an advert for (presumably) sexy undies it (the pic in the linked article) completely miss the mark on all levels!

PS Fashion designer Giorgio Armani said in a statement he chose the 34-year-old British mother of three as the new face and body of his lingerie line because she is a "stylish and intriguing woman." I think that's a fair assessment - even though I'm personally not particularly intrigued by her, I do feel (as already indicated) that she deserves credit for keeping her private life and family out of the public eye. And no mention that she was selected for being allegedly physically attractive, Mathom!

Why shouldn't people find slim women attractive? I for one like slim women and there's probably more propaganda about how women should be bigger now. Thin girls get loads of stick in the press.

To me, a buyer of designer underwear - this tells me nothng about the designer or what quality or style etc...It says Posh spice in a boring black bra that could've been £3 from Primark. Crap photos to hide her self confessed saggy stomach!!! What a waste of advertising resources!!!
