Which one will you be buying?

1. X-Box 360
2. PS3
3. Don't really care

None, both seem to be based on increasingly PC-esque (apart from the admittedly rather funky multi-core PPC processors) platforms, PS3 HD version will even be running Linux!

Therefore I'll just stick with PCs

Same as Steev, probably none also. I also will stick with my PC

If I do end up getting a console (which I doubt) I will probably end up getting Nintendos new one, which will surely be inexpensive.

Actually, there IS one console I'd consider, I'm sorely tempted by the PSP since they ported a MAME emulator...

If the games that come out are good then I'll buy a new console, I'm not buying one just for the sake of having something new.

Probably go for the PS3, but my PS2 is great as it is - plenty of great games and plays DVD anyway. I use my PC for everything else.:thumbsup:

that all depends on what you're measuring, and is basically a pointless figure.
Wait and see what the games are like, that's the only way to make a fair comparison.

I'll probably be waiting to see, although the xbox comes out 6 months earlier!

I've seen a couple of photos in the Metro paper and they look awesome, almost real life for the PS3.

As long as you can put a new HD into it and it does everything I want it to do... then I'll be getting it the first day it comes out!!

if ps3 does anything more special than ps2 i may go 4 it, only in an exceptional cirumstance though

both of course !

I'm still happy with my PS2 and GTA Vice City.

Of course, by Christmas 2008, I will have finally have beaten GTA San Andreas, and the PS3 price will have dropped to £100.

I'll buy one then.

I must admit the thing of being able to DL old games on the Revolution does interest me somewhat.. Just a shame it's only Nintendo inhouse games afaik, I'd want to DL WWE No Mercy and the THQ WCW games from N64.

Regarding specs (and without wishing to upset angelus yet again), please bear in mind that Sony told fibs about the original Playstation, AND the PS2.
A lot of what the PS3 has "twice of" is utterly pointless.

Sony can't make lasers that last longer then 6 month:D

Aside from the ones in my PS1 and PS2 which still work fine (and both are first edition consoles)

I must be special for them to treat me to the only working lasers.

His son, Johnny Special, also had a PS2 with working laser, so maybe you are not that special afterall.

I must be special as well- as my PS1 and PS2 have never any trouble at all!

Good old sony - still, I feel sorry for the poor sods with the new PS2 slimline and their oh so funny dodgy wired power cables :(

Wasn't aware of that problems either. I know quite a few people with the new slimlines, and none of them have had this problem.

What are people doing with their consoles to damage them in this way? Juggling? Really baffles me ;)

Have to say I must be special too as my PS1 and PS2 (and come to mention it the PS2 I bought my ex while we were together) all have perfectly fine lazers in too.

Wow - quite a big group of special people we have growing here... maybe.. and I might be wrong here.. but maybe it's not as big a problem as those xbox fanboys would have you think? ;)

My PS1's laser works well too, Angelus and Craig B.

well my ps2 is pretty new so thats still working, its that snazzy slimline one :clap: but my ps1 lazer has nackered. My megadrive is still set up and is out living all of my new generation gadgets. Man i love that console.

On the which console to buy problem i thnk xbox will be the best, like it is now. But for some strange unknown reason the playstation will win..... i mean why do we all own ps2's? it was the slowest most unorigional one of the lot and it cost too much for what it was. I dunno :rolleyes: I guess i'll see what gets the best game lineup.

As for the whole ps3 faster than the xbox 360 i dont believe that for a second, ok so its got a faster processor(s) but what is the graphic device like? i dont trust sony with their facts.

It's got a brand new, custom designed graphics chip from nVidea in, and having seen many samples already of graphics (both pre-rendered cut scences and in-game generated graphics) it is definately going to look fantastic.

Read this morning that Sony are also going around many of the developers and publishers that are going to be making release date games and giving them pretty extensive training on how to code for and get the most out of the new multi-thread processing method they developed and the graphics engine.

Personally, having seen what I've seen and read what I've read - I can't wait! :clap:

it will have to be the ps3 when it comes down in price does anyone know when it is due to be on the shelves
