Ive searched some old posts and got some useful info - but in the interests of clarity.....
I have a blueyonder (telewest) broadband connection, 1 desktop PC and a Laptop. I want to set up a wireless network so I can use the laptop wherever.
The little research I've done keeps throwing up routers that say 'not suitable for telewest/NTL' and I dont want to get the wrong thing.
Can anyone advise what I need to get, and what difficulties I will face???
Cheers in advance folks!
The linksys WRT54G supports BY connections, you just need to remember to register the MAC address (I'm not sure if BY still require this tho)
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/ is also a good place for support and the likes :)

I use the Netgear FM114P router on my Telewest broadband connection, never had a single problem with it. It's a bit old now, but at the time it was the cheapest one to come with a parallel printer port.
I don't think you need to register MAC addresses any more as the cable modem is linked to you.
Cheers folks,
Would this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=44997&item=5781108854&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) for example be any use. What else would I need to connect it all on the laptop/pc/printer side?
Sorry for being such a pain!
You'd just need a wireless card for your alptop if it doesnt have one :)

That's the same as mine, a very good price too! Netgear warranty is good, a UK number (although you end up at a call centre in India), and they ship you a replacement part first class.
The only drawback with this router is that it's only 11b wireless. Although it will be a few years before broadband is at 11Mbps, you may notice a lag if you start to transfer a few big files or want to stream video (although I stream DivX without any problem).
