View Full Version : Should I catch the 95 or 31?

Decisions, decisions...

On a more serious note, I am Walkley-visiting in a few weeks time; last time I caught the 31 from the Sheffield Interchange, and had a little walk to Mr R. E. Latives house; however, alternatively I can catch the 95.

Does the 95 go through Netherthorpe? If it doesn't it may be a better option as those hills really wounded me - ;)

Baring in mind I'll have a suitcase - I'm catching a bus, so Mr R. E. Lative doesn't have to rush back from his rowing!

Cheers,
:)

AFAIK the 85 doesn't go through Netherthorpe, from Town it turns up Brook Hill past St George's Hospital and then goes up through Commonside and onto South Road, and then terminates outside the old Bole Hill School.. I think it's there anyway.

I used to get the 95 regularly up till about 7 and half years ago when I lived on Walkley Bank Road.

Yup, the 95 (and the 94 and 123) all go past the Arts Tower, past Crookes Valley Park and straight up Barber Road, Commonside, South Road, and then turn left at the lights and turn around at the bottom of the Bole Hills.

So I suppose it depends on where they're living really. You might have a hill to climb one direction or the other. :(

Bell-Hagg Road, S6 5--

As a side-note Rich, is the 95 now known as the 85?

No.

AFAIK the 85s go up Stocksbridge via Hillsborough and Middlewood.

I'm sure someone mentioned that the 95 has been renamed the something-a-rather?

:)

Well there is the new 94 and 94a buses, they're probably what you mean.

But for Walkley I still have the choice of the 95/31?

Depends whereabouts in Walkley you're after, buit personally I'd catch the 95, as I don't know where the 31 goes or where it goes from..

I've noticed the 94 (thought the bus driver had got the number wrong the first time) what's the difference between the 94 & 95?

Yes 95 for walkley doesn't go through netherthorpe

Should be fine with the 95 or 94/94A. They stop on Bole Hill Road opposite the Walkley Cottage pub, so you can cut down to Bell-Hagg from there :)

(or the 123 green bus if you aren't fussed about taking First buses! ;) )

Where can I get all of these buses from?

The 31 stop was very near the Interchange. Are the 95 and 123 stops nearby too?

The 95/4 123 etc only stop in the Interchange on the return journey. :(

Heading towards Walkley, you can catch em either at the bus stop outside the Russian cafe place (just up from Pond's Forge, opposite Number 1 Chinese) or from opposite the cathedral. :)

*takes deep breath* See...learning all that info to tell my son in case he gets stuck in town is worth it! :D

Where an earth is the Russian cafe?

I could use some initiative and ask a driver for the 95 stop.

We've now got the 94 (Birley) 95 (Walkley) & 96 (stops in city centre I think) replacing what were all the 95 routes.

The stop opposite the Cathedral is the one you caught the bus back from last time but even the Russian cafe one might be a bit of a drag depending on the size of the suitcase. If you aren't sure though give me a shout & I'll meet you at the interchange. Might even manage a mini RUM meet you never know ;)

Not a good idea Sian. Can you imagine Agent Ole's reaction when he finds out Alex has been on a bus, and you encoraged it?

If you are stuck for for transport info why don't you go to www.yorkshiretravel.co.uk. ? It offers several options including how far to walk from the nearest bus stop to your required destination .

I think I may just get the 31 again and suffer the hills of Neepsend or wherever it is.
