I really enjoyed the January meet at Sutton Scarsdale hall despite the weather and the pictures I took not being very good, I'm looking forward now to Februarys meet, does anyone have any suggestions for a venue and date?

Idea no1 http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/museum_gfx_en/AM19472.html

Its free to park and go in, open on Saturdays and Sundays. Plus theres a lot more see and photograph than just trains.

That looks very promising, especially if there are other places near as well, just pick a warmer and sunnier day :hihi:.

Love this place! I'd certainly be up for it, in fact I go there quite often anyway. There's a side road further up from the main entrance where nobody usually goes, but there are some old carriages there that are quite photogenic too :)

I'd be up for it. I'd have to bring my other half though as trains make him drool!!!:hihi:

Well, looks like this seems to have everyones vote! I think we all agreed at Scarsdale Hall that the last Saturday in February was the best for everyone. So, looks like we've made a decision & it's not even February yet:o

Pencilled this into my diary seeing as I forgot about the January meet...

Link to the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre Website (http://www.barrowhill.org/)

One other advantage of Barrowhill, is if it rains there are a lot of railway related and industrial things to photograph inside the roundhouse its self and in adjacent buildings.

In case any ones wondering about my motives for suggesting the place, I'm not a train spotter and have no real enthusiasm for trains as such, other than as a photographic subject. I only know about the place as I went to their beer festival last year.

I would be quite interested in this any dates as of yet?

As Hemlock suggests in post#5, it was kind of agreed at the January meet that the last Saturday in February would be the most convenient for most people. Meet up at 1.00 pm? in the car park

Does that mean we've agreed a (n unofficial) meet before the month starts? That must be a first for the group!

28th Feb
1pm in car park (is there only 1 car park? ;) )

If any one wants to offer a spare seat to us it means the numbers go up and i think make it a more enjoyable day. I am sure everyone wont mind pitching in for petrol costs.

hi, im new to the forum, i'd like to come along to the meet on the 28th as ive not been to one before. I assume form the posts that its just a turn-up kind of affair....
Also would anyone possibly be going via broomhill/crosspool area and have a free seat?

Hemlock

Hi ndegwa, Starmag & robertNASH! It is just a turn up & meet kind of affair, but we usually like people to post if they are going so we know roughly how many to hang around for. Just look for a group of people with cameras, tripods, lenses.... you won't go far wrong!

May I make a suggestion, why not get the mobile no. and list of everyone that is meant to be coming, so you can contact each other if delayed or get lost.
Don't post on them on here though, send by PM to each other or something.
I'm impressed that you were so organised this month. Hope you didn't organize it so early you then forget to turn up!

If anyone else has room in cars & can offer lifts, please post so we can try & get everyone to this meet that wants to.
Also, please pm me for mobile no. exchange if you want. Most regulars have each others numbers anyway & it does help - especially when we loose each other!
