PERSONALLY i think Dawn French is better looking and very sexy, and i don't think Lenny thinks he is going to break her in bed!

I am sure with her hectic lifestyle Dawn is not that much of a drain on the NHS, however Nicole is dangerously thin, and if she were English, i am sure she would be more of a drain that Dawn.

Who's more attractive? Subjective, but if forced to compare and contrast between two examples I don't particularly care for, I prefer Nicole post-obvious scrawniness.

Bigger drain on NHS? Obesity and extreme thinness each have their own risks: cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and associated pathology etc in the former; anaemia, gastrointestinal issues, osteoporosis etc in the latter. You can add to that psychological/psychiatric problems if anorexia is a factor for those who are extremely thin, and the same for the obese if binge eating/food addiction are involved.

Wouldn't a better example be to compare both to the average? Assuming all else being equal (which it seldom is) both the obese and the extremely thin have a greater risk of developing poor health than those of a healthy, normal/average weight.

I do have to say that you could pull any overweight person off the street...stick them in a studio with professionals (hair, make-up etc) and produce exactly the same result. I'm not a pro..but even I can see that that pic is very professionally done...and in Black n White too, which is always very complimentary.

They both look like they need to seek medical care for their eating disorders. Being both that fat and that thin will probably lead to health issues and an early grave.

I think the idea is to compare the obese to the apparently or actually anorexic - both extremes of the weight spectrum. Nicole has had weight/health issues in the past, though she seems to be within the healthy weight range for her height these days (she's about 5 ft, I think).

however this RECENT photo of Nicole is not my point...the one i posted originally when she was way too skinny is what i am referring to.

Why can't Dawn French market herself as sexy? Surely it's all about self esteem. You can be a perfect size ten and if your self esteem isn't right, you can feel and look like a bag of mashings. Dawn has been well documented saying about when she slimmed down to a size 12 for her wedding photos, she bowed to peer pressure and was miserable and a nightmare to live with. She is happy in herself and her husband loves her.She's got a really pretty face and bazoomas that Davina McCall would like to stick her head inbetween(If you heard her on Chris Moyles the other day!) And she makes me laugh.

Being overweight can be a choice thing like smoking or heavy drinking or any of the other bad things we do to our bodies. Some people say someone who smokes is not sexy, others love it. Shall we lock all smokers away? It can also be difficult to change things as Clare Sweeney showed, it's easy to chuck it on but not get weight off.

I think the media gives us such a strong unrealistic image that it is wrong with being anything other than a size 8 or 10 when in reality the majority of women are size 16 or above. (Hence Dawn's fashion company name 1647) If there were no fat people in the media, 47% of the population would think they were outcasts. That's quite a huge amount!

I'll certainly take your word for it. I'd thought the UK average now was size 14.

I'm not my ideal weight and I know it's my doing. I'd rather be lighter and fitter, not because of societal pressure but because I believe I'd be happier and healthier as a result. I know how to achieve it and if I'm serious I just need to go for it. (Doing a fairly miserable job currently, I must admit :D)

This debate could go on forever as each man/woman has different tastes in what they like in the opposite sex.

Me personally would go for someone in the middle of the two examples someone like Kelly Brooke as i feel i woman should have a curvaceous figure.

When Dawn French was promoting the Australian tour of French & Saunders on a radio station over here I called up and said how much of an inspiration she is to me, because I'm not particularly thin myself, and she helps me overcome my self-doubt.
Well they put me through and I spoke to her, and she told me that we shouldn't have to rely on our appearance to be confident, we should rely on personality. But yeah... it meant so much that she said that to me.
And in response to the actual question, I think the image you've provided of Dawn is far healthier than the one of Nicole. Extreme thinness causes infertility and Anorexia Nervosa is one of the most serious psychiatric illnesses, and yeah... haha sorry. I'm studying all this sort of stuff for my Year 12 Media project..
I think that when it comes to sizes and what we are naturally like, you can be really thin and really unhealthy at the same time (like, eat heaps of junk food, etc), or you can be generously proportioned and be very healthy.. of course there are those that disagree with me that's their problem.

I think that fat people look disgusting. So given the option between a really fat person and a really skinny person, i would go for a skinny person. At least you know they cant get any skinnier when you see there bones, but a fat person just grows and grows and grows.....:gag:

'pends what you mean by fat though. As someone who's always been attracted to larger ladies I expect I may be biased, but there are varying degrees of "fat". I think that word is problematic, since there's no definitive line you can draw and say "this is fat / this isn't".

I know lots of girls who are incredibly skinny. They eat and eat and eat and still you can put your hand round the top of their leg they are that skinny, but they are perfectly healthy. :)
